My Type 1 turbo circuit racer (update pg43)
Hi everyone.
About a year ago I finished building my current type 1 engine. 2180cc, EMPI ally block, Scat 78mm crank, Carillo rods, Mahle 94mm pistons etc etc.
The engine runs great, but I still need more The best so far was a 14.1 1/4 mile @ 149km/h @ wesbank on a prepped track. And a 1:18 @ zwartkops around the circuit.
So now she's gonna get the whole turbo treatment. This thread might take a while as I'm buying parts according to my budget.
First item I got:
CB performance 044 super mag heads. (I'll take some pics tonight and post them). These babies look awesome. Combustion chamber size 65cc, so with 1,2mm deck height the compression will be 8.5:1. Which is what I want.

Here's a pic of the head
The heads have got 42 and 37mm stainless valves and a 12mm relocated spark plug. Double valve springs and cromoly retainers.
The heads are currently unported, that I do need to sort out.

Just ordered myself some parts on summit racing from the states... (just don't tell my wife )
Here's what I ordered:
4x 420cc Edelbrock fuel injectors. I will use these as my primary injectors and my current 310cc injectors for the methanol injection
8x Special ngk spark plugs for the CB heads. The CB heads use 12mm spark plugs and not normal 14mm
1x Turbo heat shield. This shield goes onto the turbo exhaust housing to keep away the heat from the compressor side.
1x Turbonetics Raptor blow off valve to keep the turbo happy and make that nice "whooosh" sound
1x Turbonetics T3/T4 turbo. Part number TNT-11025. T04e compressor housing with a .48 exhaust housing just like the doctor prescribed. This turbo is matched perfect for 10psi boost and will handle the 7000rpm limit of the engine.
1x Oil drain flange and oil inlet flange to supply the turbo's bearing with some lube
1x Turbonetics evolution dump valve to keep the turbo on 7psi for low boost and 10psi for medium boost and 16psi for racing those gt3 porsches.
Whell, that's all for tonight folks. My parts should be landing on the 30th of this month. As soon as it lands I will take some pics.
By then I better have a good excuse when the wife looks at my credit card statement

You might be right about the spark plug location.
When I bought the heads I was told that on these heads the plugs are relocated, thus redrilled in 12mm.
I'll take some pics of the heads tonight and post them tomorrow. Almost felt like sleeping with them under my pillow. They are just gorgeous.

I know, I got 2 pairs.... hehehehehe
Its a stock based casting, just drilled smaller. But what they dont advertise is that the vlaves open at a different angle to the stock 040 and 041 heads - the same angle used on the big race heads (superflos...) making them more centre line and more efficient.... found this out from the germans (I wonder if CB knows)
I am actually looking for various shots of the stock head to compare to my heads that I have done.
I love the shopping list - youre making me dislike this boat even more now and want to come home and play with my toy car.....
