Fitting CitiGolf Headlights to a Beetle (How?)
Hi friendly friends,
I am sure that there are a few of you who have fitted CitiGolf crystal headlights to your Beetles.
I know that some mods are required, so can someone please point me in the correct direction because I want to attempt this sometime soon.
Is it mods to the housing of the headlamp or the chrome surround trim, or both?
Will there be a space issue between the headlamp and the chrome surround, and if so, how have you sorted this issue? (I'm sure water could get in a mess around)
I need to know whether there is any Golf headlight in particular to buy and which Nightbreaker bulbs would be suitable.
Thanks folks,
Kershan.

Simple easy mod. Do a search on here. A few of us have done it successfully. There is a slight gap between the trim ring and light. No real issues though.
What model bug?? Nightbreakers will work easy. I have Phillips bulbs now, with angel eye heads.

Hey Bugspray,
I did a search and hence my questions...Was hoping for some pics as to what needs to be trimmed and where.
All I found kinda relating to this was your post about which bulbs to use H4 or H7 if I recall correctly.
Will try searching again tho...maybe using the 'Advanced search' this time.

It's easy depending on the fenders you have, and I'm refering to beetle fenders 68 & up.
68-72 fenders need tabs rivited/brazed on to hold the headlight metal base, a fiddly jod to get them in the right place, with much trial & error fitting.
If your fenders are 73-79 then it's much easier as the existing tabs can be used.

You will have it easier than me. I needed what Callooker is talking about. Those mounts help keep the lights alligned. Without that and just the citi baskets the lights shine skew.

More than meets the eye!

remove 1 of your headflights and take a pic of the inside of the light bucket so we can see which fenders youve gotMarshallGTi wrote:bump... bugspray have u got a link to your rides thread? i'd also like to see whats needed to fit golf lights, as my bugs standard ones arent nearly bright enough...

will do. its a 71 if that helps. one side has a newer looking light with an h4 bulb, other side has an older light with a really old and large round bulb.

I have done this a few times, on the older fenders, without the tabs, you must rivet 3 new tabs in order to secure the golf headlights. I always used aluminium to do the tabs with. easiest material to work with

Like a charm, if you have a 68 or later, it already has the 3 tags, put the golf lights on my Fastback, looksRekert wrote:Will this work on a type3

Its easy, you mark off where they go, bend 3 off 90deg. plates and pop them on, drill holes for the head light, and set the light in the dark, does not have to be too accurate, as you have the light settings.Rekert wrote:64....so ill need to do the tab mod too then?
