Ferrino

Post by fig »

This is a non-VW based kit car from the 1980s. IIRC it had a mid-mounted Ford Essex V6:

There was a guy who used to race a Ferrino with a Mazda Rotary engine. His had a mid mounted engine.

Based on the Ferrari Dino shape. Personally, I think that it looks a bit too big and bulky.

The Ferrino was originally called the Kelmark and was designed in california around 1975
it was concieved to use a VW pan and also a mid engined pan using Beetle front suspension and a corvair transaxle mated to a Chevy engine The SA version was slightly redesigned to use Ford Sierra windscreen as well as door windows.

Front screen was a modified colt galant one and side glass was flat. Nice looking cars but not for a beetle chassis.

Body is over 2M wide. To make it look acceptable the wheels needed to spaced wide out. With them so far spaced out and the of set way out, you could not turn the steering with the brakes applied.

Mine was good enough to get stolen and returned by SAP with motor stripped in the boot. Ended selling it for what kit cars are worth and turned it into a Venter Trailer.

Hi guys,

I'm trying to source the windscreen and passenger window for this car. You say it was a colt galant windscreen in sa? Or was it a ford sierra. What year galant or sierra would it be? All help would be appreciated
