ice advice
hi all,
need some advice and pics on ice. a few crazy ideas r sweeping thru my mind. looking at least 1 10" sub, splits in rear and splits in the front. the trick comes in how do i hide evertthing yet get the benefit of the equipment. dont be shy, the more bizare the better.

Re: ice advice
Whats your end result? Do you want sq or sp? A bugs an awesome platform for both. But you should forget about the splits in the rear. Rather get a great 3way active split set upfront. Staging is important so the tweets could go in the kicks or like you said weird, in the roof. Midz would work best in the kicks and a front driver in the middle maybe in the front firewall...
More than meets the eye!

Re: ice advice
Common stealth setups are the subs under the rear seats where the battery is. Or build a backshelf , or acoustic carpet over the speakers.

thanx man, its not to late. still not at the ice stage yet. you've got the idea that all is consealed. the door panels could be tricky as i dont want to put new type speaker covers on it. if i can get a set of those old school chrome ones, i'll put that up.mikefenton wrote:i know this is a relativly old post but heres some ideas for you:

Q- that foil. is it ordinary household foil so that the resin of the fibreglass not stick to the body?

Re: ice advice
Thats Imix, its a sound deadner. And yepp you can use normal foil to keep the fg from sticking, rather get heavy duty tho. Its stronger to work with.

Re: ice advice
with the door panels you coulds maybe make a double layber of wood in the door and then cut out where the speaker will go and cover that with what ever material (covering even the speaker hole) you'll be using for the doors. does that make sense?

Re: ice advice
Yeah like a false wall kinda thing, but wouldnt the material be vinyl? sound would come out kak from behind that. A way aroune that would be making map pockets over where the speaker is gonna be,

Re: ice advice
thats the idea so far. thinking of using a punch to punch out tiny holes in the vynyl for sound to come thru. some older cars back in the day came out with that, especially if it had a speaker in the dash. ill be putting a set of amplified speakers in the doors. hope that would help with what sound i loose thru the panel.mikefenton wrote:with the door panels you coulds maybe make a double layber of wood in the door and then cut out where the speaker will go and cover that with what ever material (covering even the speaker hole) you'll be using for the doors. does that make sense?

Re: ice advice
instead of covering the door with just one continuous layer of vinyl you could make the lower half (where the speaker would be) material. otherwise the punch idea should work fine.

Re: ice advice
Ron.
Just for you:
Tweets = tweeters
Mids = Mid range speakers
SQ = Sound quality
SP = Sound pressure ( the more bass,the better )
Active cross over = Cross over that needs power to split the signal into high,mid range and low frequencies
Passive cross over = Same as Active,but doesn't use a power sourc
Staging = When you go to a concert the music comes from the stage.The same can be achieved by placing the tweeters and midrange in the right position in a car.Bass is non directional and can be placed anywhere in a car.
Kicks = kick panels
Head unit = Radio
Hope that helps.

Re: ice advice
i want "the look" as close to original as possible with most of the components hidden. the bottom half of the door pannel already has a door pocket in it.mikefenton wrote:instead of covering the door with just one continuous layer of vinyl you could make the lower half (where the speaker would be) material. otherwise the punch idea should work fine.
