Re: At Volksieworld Ottery
Oh ok, well spotted Jacques. I heard that an orange LHD bus had recently changed hands in Cape Town, was wondering if that was the one. Red bus running? eish, hold on, we still need to find a 1200 motor (actually, we still need to find some cash for a 1200 motor). Busy with a rotissiere at the moment so that we can see it's belly !splitbusahollic wrote:looks like it's rhd ...look in the second last pic you can see the steering !

Re: At Volksieworld Ottery
Bought my bus 8 years ago, it's been in storage most of the time, now I use it as my daily driver (last couple of weeks). nearly sold it, what a mistake that would have been!!!!!...... about to buy a 1975 autovilla as well. Thanks to Henry at Berg Motor Spares, for sorting out the carb settings...... and the steering and for being an all round good guy...... paid a fortune to others in the past and got kak results!!!! Bus is now running like a dream. Paid my school fees, now enjoying the fruits.....

Re: At Volksieworld Ottery
My bus' previous owner who had it "serviced" and had a reconned 1600cc Kombi motor installed by them.
Turns out it was a 1300 beetle motor! He was charged a substantial amount for the "KOMBI" recon as I still have the invoice. Home made mustache hanger mounts and all. Then, it had the wrong gearbox, and sold me another wrong gearbox, and on and on.
I eventually found out enough from other educated VW enthusiasts and specialists on this forum to know whats what and took the bus to Andreno motors in Villiersdorp and got a proper reconned motor with matching gearbox, and my own carb installation.
That was almost 3 years ago no, and it's still 100% since then.
Maybe they've changed, but they are not a company I would every spend my hard-earned cash with ever again.
It takes a certain type of person to be able to lie to your face and take your money at the same time, something I'm incapable of doing.
