Alternator external regulator

Post by dkjinsa »

Hi Guys.

Since Monday, my ignition light glows when I remove the key and the battery is not charging.

I have replaced the regulator with a new one but the problem persists.

Where do I look now?

Cheers

David

It is wired exactly the way it has been for the last 10 years.

If the light comes on when you switch the car off, you may have blown diodes inside your alternator

Thanks guys.

I had an internal regulator alternator on the shelf which I thought was FUBAR.

Gave it a good internal dusting, fitted it to my engine and it works fine.

I'll take the old one to an auto electrician and let them sort it out. It is nice to have a spare.
