Who can fit windows (in JHB)?
's up?
The '66 bug now has new beaded window seals, and a set of popouts.
I sourced a set of old beading for it too.
I'm looking for someone in the JHB area to assist us with taking out the front, rear, and two side windows - and then fit the new seals, beadings, and popouts (I have the necessary hardware).
Can someone here help - or can you recommend somewhere please?
Thanks, Nic

Nic, I contacted PG Auto Glass in Strubens Valley and they are able to fit windscreens etc for beetles. Maybe check their website and find a branch closer to you.
I also called Glasfit and they wanted around R200 for front windscreen.

Was hoping to find someone a little more experienced with bugs rather than just general auto glass fitment though.
Your '62 has a flat windscreen, which is understandably a lot cheaper.
'65+ has a larger, convex windscreen.
Cheers, N.

It probably would, and in fact, I think I have the proper tool at Home, but I'd prefer to get the help of someone more experienced than myself at this.bugspray wrote:Wouldn't the ol' string in the rubber trick work??

Re: Who can fit windows (in JHB)?
I've done several beetle windscreens and rear windows as well as puma windscreens and rear windows (not the side windows, they a bitch and a half). The soapy water and flexible wire (string doesn't work as well) trick works every time. the ones i do don't have the breading though, they all the cal look rubbers. so if you can do the beading then maybe we can chat...
From fastest to slowest:
Birkin race car, not much is standard
Lotus Elise 111R, almost everything is standard
'75 SP 1600 with a few mods
B8 A4 Avant tdi, towing made easy

Re: Who can fit windows (in JHB)?
Since we're talking about fitting windows here, the below is very helpful -just in case someone else needs some advice
I've followed IMPI's post here and it worked 100%

Thanks James and Ilyaas.
James,
I'm waiting for the seals to arrive (this week), and will then give you a PM when we're ready.
Cheers, Nic
