Wanted Reputable Watercooled Mech

Post by bugspray »

Hey guys looking for a reputable and good mechanic on the east rand to do a major service on a vw polo.

Its an 07 model, 60 OOOkm service. I would think the cam belt would also need to be changed.

Car is out of service plan, and waranty, but would still like an RMI approved workshop if possible to work on the car and stamp the book.

Car and owner are in Brakpan/Springs and would like something in the area. Springs VW quoted 3k for the service, and I'm not sure if that included cam belt.

So if anybody knows of a good workshop with a good price, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks guys.

AFAIK polo cambelt services are at 90K/100K km's ? 60k km's sounds too early :?:

Coolios. Ok I stand corrected no cam belt change, just a major service then.

Wouldn't mind going through to Midrand, but can only be done on a weekend. As she works Monday to Friday. And its abit of a drive.

Anybody else? Major service for a polo 07 model, brakes are fine though.

Hey guys could somebody tell me if this is the complete list of a 60K service? Found this workshop in Springs, is it a good price or sounds dodge?

A major car service from R495 includes:▪ new spark plugs, points and condenser▪ new plastic in-line fuel filter,▪ new air filter, new engine oil▪ new oil filter▪ CO Test and set timing▪ electrical check and report▪ adjustment of hand brake▪ testing of brakes▪ battery check▪ "V" belt check▪ car wash and vacuum▪ labour for all the above▪ Inspection of the car using the Car Service City 62-point check list▪ A report on any defects found.

Also this one

AUTOMATE in springs. its RMI approved.
• NEW Sparkplugs, Points and condenser.
• NEW Airfilter• NEW Plastic in-line fuel filter.
• NEW Engine oil.
• NEW Oil filter.
• Computer Tune-up.

Any advice will be helpfull. Thanks guys.

Hi Bugspray
You cant even supply the parts for the service on that polo for the quoted price,
No points no plastic filter and they also dont have a cabin filter listed on the price.
Please be carefull these cars dont want normal bp6es plugs(that lawnmovers use)
they need a specific plug with a cetain heat rating otherwise it will affect your coil pack.

My thoghts exactly... But the one dudes RMI approved, so figured he may be safe...

Ok will watch out, and maybe call them on that.

Still wana come to you Split, but the distance is the problem. The car is in spring and will be hard to get to you over in Midrand. But if I don't come right. I will keep you in mind.
