Post Office strike over ??

Post by Muderick »

Can anyone confirm the below? Have you received any parcels posted after 12 February?

SA Post Office casual workers strike resolved

12 Febuary 2014

The strike by casual workers of the SA Post Office has been resolved. The SA Post Office and representatives of the striking workers signed an agreement at the Council for Mediation and Arbitration yesterday, 11 February 2014.

SA Post Office’s employees returned to work today, 12 February 2014 and mail processing continued normally. The SA Post Office will introduce night shifts to expedite the delivery of mail and expects to deliver most of the backlog within two weeks.

“The SA Post Office would like to thank its clients for their understanding and patience during the strike,” said Lungile Lose, Group Executive: Corporate Services at the SA Post Office. Lose also commended all role players for the quick and constructive way in which the strike was resolved.

The strike, which began on 27 January 2014, was unprotected and the principle of no work, no pay applied.

I am still awaiting a much anticipated Ukelele. I thought the strike was over long time ago. Today the tracking function keeps chucking out errors

Ordered two packages from Singapore last year.
Both left the same day but one went the scenic route and ended up in Kazakhstan .
Still got both the same week in SA! :x
We have two post offices in our neighbourhood, packages go to the first where I usually collect them and sometimes they get sent back to the hub
and then to the second.
This fruitful exercise adds about 10 working days to deliveries.
To ass insult to injury the two offices are 4km apart!
Got to love the SAPO :shoot:

How do you tell the difference between normal and go slow?

I just had a reasonably good experience with Customs/Post Office/International Mail. I placed an order on a German website, thinking that the package would go through DHL. To my horror I discovered later that DHL meant the German postal service and not the express courier. Yesterday I picked up my parcel from a Post Office in Cape Town within three weeks of placing the order. Maybe I was just lucky..

I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR SOME STUFF FROM OVERSEAS FOR 4 MONTHS ALREADY.
IT'S IN THE COUNTRY BUT THERE ARE APPARENTLY SOMETHING LIKE 4000 CONTAINERS TO SORT AT THE MOMENT.
