No, all pre-94 FreeState plates started with an O, eg.

OB - Bloemfontein
OKE - Welkom
OF - Fauresmith

Thats not an "F" but an "E"

Making it an Eastern Cape number plate

Approx. 1998 1999 registration here in the Eastern Cape.

at Pine... I get that part buddy but I was referring to the the FC part or EC part I thought it was just like Herman does...I looked at it again and it looks like FC... UNLESS the bottom of the E is gone...u could be right Herman... we wont really know. Pre 27 April 1994 the first 1 to 3 letters denoted where you were from and post it changed to the letters on the end....anyone else have any other theories?

Hi Muds,

If you click on the photo, you go to photobucket, and then you can magnify it as much as you want,

Still think its and "E"

Guy has 34 VW's from 1951 to 1976 SP, this includes type 3 and KG
The old man collected these cars in his lifetime, and passed away not to long ago. May his sole rest in peace.
This collection is spread over a few sheds, in different places.
Has offers of approx. R 3.5 mill for the lot, with more to come in.
So unless we can collect that amount by mid next week, these cars are gone.
He is not a VW fan, this is purely a financial deal to him, which I can understand.

such a pity
I have some space in my homeloan for a real part of SA history and/or a KG. But i wont be home until 16 July and even then I have a few things I really have to get to.
Maybe there will still be something nice left on 1 Aug?
Who knows... we win some, we loose some. Seems like when it comes to our history, we keep loosing.

Yes, it is Pepe Marte's old stash. Saw it myself when he was still alive in '99. Nice lot, but totally over rated. Definitely NOT worth 5mil...

Had an appointment with Alex today to go see as I know him well and bought some cars off him in the past . When I phoned he said later, phoned again later and was told lets not waist each other's time.if you don't have 5 mil then don't come.
Sad.
