These are being introduced into E-Natis by purely selecting the option of a vehicle being restored. If no records exist for a vehicle from the archives or E-Natis, the vehicle will be listed as a 2018 model or when registered and classified as a build up because it was assembled from spares and proof was provided of the bus being rebuild/ restored.

I also don’t believe the roadworthy centers will have an issue with the left hand drive issue. I doubt they would know this. I would have imagined it’s the introduction to E-Natis that would have the problem with LHD, and do to this a special inspection document has to be completed stipulating if it’s LHD or RHD.

I specifically asked about the paperwork

Hi Hein,
The kombi was restored 3 years ago and is running well. We've jut done a 200km road trip two weeks back down to Cape Agulhas.
Papers are in order with matching engine and chassis numbers on the certificate of registration and license is paid up to end September next year.
Please give me a call if you interested or would like more details.
Thank you.

Dawie wrote: Sun Dec 03, 2017 4:58 pm Regarding his recently imported lhd kombis, could it be that status is: "registered and paid, but no licence disc issued until roadworthied". Only once converted to rhd could roadworthy certificate be issued. Buyer might only realise this after taking delivery...
It looks like Dawie is on the money. Yesterday I received a copy of the registration document for this blue LHD 15-window:

tylbluelhd15-07.jpg
tyllhdregdoc.jpg

Note the date of first registration is 1 February 2018! It has been illegal to do a first registration on a LHD car in SA since 2004. Dawie may be correct that a registration is possible, but the car won't get a RWC.

Another thing to look out for if you are considering buying any of this guy's wares. When the roadworthy testing station sees the recent date of first reg and LHD, they will probably refuse to test the car or issue a RWC. CAVEAT EMPTOR!

Look at the weight of this split in the registration papers, over 1,4tons which is more than what a bay window weighs. Splits often just under 1 ton. The VIN number is also a very strange format.

His Wife /Fiancé Anke Hamers also tried catching me separately to this.

She is just as complicit as he is.

Yes, we've been following this for over a year now, more than one person claiming to have been scammed. I for one would love to know how he (or she) goes about doing this with you? And if "however" you have been scammed, are somehow out of pocket, have you gone to the local police and laid a charge of theft, have a case number? Perhaps been to visit him at his house to get your money\car back?

Please share here for all to see, read, and possibly, those who ARE attempting to bring this guy to book, can also include your case to add more fuel to the already expanding fire. Weather he or she is seeing this or not is besides the point, the fact they are still advertising cars means they really don't feel a thing, or, they are in fact doing nothing illegal.

Interested to hear your story.

Me too. I have read how people have paid money, without seeing a car and that is not a scam, merely stupidity. Now, I'm not saying he is a saint, I have no idea but maybe we should put emotion aside and only work with facts. I think there are way too many people here who posted without ever having dealt with the man.

and before you start attacking me, ask yourself if I,d care

I've bought things sight unseen from people I've never met and just trusted that they'll post things as they said.
Luckily, I've dealt with honest people. But it could have gone wrong too.

My story in a nutshell ..... bought three busses from him that we were happy with. Paid a fair price. Built up a relationship and then he suggested we buy a couple and get them restored. At this point we had no reason to doubt his integrity as everything had been handled well up to this point. He then went quiet, after we paid a hefty deposit. After months we got a sob story that the busses were stolen. We asked for the case reference (as surely if you have 6 vehicles stolen you would report it to the police) then he started to get threatening ...... after we started 'watching him' through a restorer we made contact with in CT, he started sending us pics of our busses and progress updates. We then told him we were flying out to SA and wanted to see the busses and meet him, we never heard from his after that. Solicitors hired and we are now trying to get our money back .....
