Oldskool cars and bike database info

Post by bugspray »

Hi guys, gent on Facebook is starting/started a database of old school cars and bikes. Below is the email he sent to me.

"Hope you are well and thanks a lot for your contact details.

OldSkool  - CARS and BIKES is a new entity and as lovers of older vehicles, just as you, we have realised that there is such a ‘vibe’ and a passion when it comes to these older vehicles. Therefore we have decided that we can do more to keep these oldies on the road and to enjoy them for MANY years to come. We are also just a bunch of enthusiasts like you, private individuals and we don’t belong to any big conglomerate, or has anything to do with the authorities, so feel at ease that your information will not be shared with anyone else, unless you give us permission in the future.

We have realised that all of us out there has a passion to keep our golden oldies on the road and reliable, but it becomes more and more difficult to do that as individuals, but if we talk and negotiate on behalf of 20 000 or even 100 000 enthusiasts, then we can negotiate a better deal, source parts, get cheaper insurance, financing, etc … the list just goes on and on. Therefore we need to start with this database to see the number of vehicles we have out there, year models, different makes and models, are they used for your lifestyle, or even as race car, it does not matter. We are sure that if we can help one another, network more, deal with suppliers and businesses out there that understand where we come from, we can all enjoy the one common thing that we have in this stressed-out country and that is our love and passion for the transport and vehicles that suit our lifestyle.

We will keep you updated on where we go in future and what we have achieved for all of us via a Newsletter, say once a month. We are so positive about this venture and what will come out of it that we are sure to become one of the strongest ‘extended families’ in the world, just because of our mutual passion - our cars and bikes.

What we need from you are the following to compile this database:

All info about your car, or bike, namely:-

· YEAR MODEL – 1987, 1969, etc.

· MAKE / MANUFACTURER – Ford, Opel, Toyota, etc.

· SPECIFIC MODEL – Escort, Rekord, Corolla, etc.

· USED FOR – Racing, Daily drive, Weekend fun, etc.

Then we need the owner’s info, like:-

· NAME & SURNAME

· AGE

· LANGUAGE

· CITY or TOWN

· E-MAIL CONTACT

· MOBILE / CELL PHONE NUMBER

We will extend the criteria / data at a later stage, but for now this is all we need. At least we can make contact with you if we need to. Please mail the info to data@oldskoolcarsandbikes.co.za

Please pass this on to all your friends, family and fellow enthusiasts with an ‘older vehicle’ that we can get as many on our database as possible.

Should you have any questions, ideas, or anything else, feel free to contact us at any time.

Regards

THEO COETZER"

So if anybody is keen to get involved.....

Like I said on Facebook, OPEN invitation for additional SPAM, as well as risk of theft syndicates looking for old, sought-after motor cars. My Bus is SELF restored and maintained. I purchase my own parts as and when needed, or I import them myself from overseas at VERY good pricing. There's nothing this character could do that would help me in any way, shape or form, except to mail market our details to unscrupulous people or entities.

Tread carefully with the info you pass on with this guy, that's all I will say further.

(PS. I checked and he's a member of every, single, motoring group possibly ever created on facebook in SA!. So, he's been removed.)

This is the new version of clubs with hidden agendas.

Umbrella BS on top and a handy stock list for buyers underneath.
"Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car, and oversteer, the rear.
Hp is how fast you hit the wall, and Torque is how far you take the wall with you."

Thanks for the heads up. Sometime people start something with the best intentions and then it goes to the dark side. Agree
