WOW, you never know, awesome story, thanks for sharing.
Flip side of the coin, I spotted a Ford Escort I owned in the 80's a few years ago, a flood of old memories came back.
I can only imagine the Old guy's emotions in seeing the bus.
For what it's worth, ignorance has no limits ......

Sambas in South Africa are good for only 2 things: showing off and sunburn.

Before I owned my Samba it was owned by student that studied at Tuks in the 80s. His brother first owned it and then he bought it. In 198? he was driving around fountains circle and a car hit him on left rear which flipped him on his left side. The bus flipped over onto the right side and it caused quite a lot of damage which I found during restoration. The bus was then sold and the worst panel beater in Africa got hold of the bus and made a mess of repair.
When I met him he gave me a front side window latch that was still left over in garage. The glass broke when bus flipped over and he kept latch until he gave it to me more than 30 years after accident.
I have the latch in a special place.
I never though I would ever get a Samba!!
