Reasonable price on replacement exhaust?

Post by alwynpv »

Hi all

I am getting my 1971 1300 Beetle into a decent running condition, nothing fancy (yet).

Engine - Done(partially, due to exhaust being shot, need new exhaust to be able to finalise tuning)
Brakes - Done
Alternator - Done

Next on my list is the exhaust, which is rusted vrot.

So my question is, what is a reasonable price I can expect to pay to replace the standard exhaust on a beetle?

Is there any sense in getting a 2nd hand exhaust from someone that is pimping a standard engine and has no further use for the standard exhaust? Or should I just cough up and buy a new one?

Any leads as to where I can buy new or secondhand exhausts would be great.

Contact Sean on these forums. His company Tuffex makes high quality exhausts for ACVWs.

My understanding is that one cannot buy directly from Tuffex, unless you're a dealer.

Yes, that is correct. I don't supply counter sales. We are a manufacturer and distribute to wholesalers and fitment centers only.

Just to name a few VW outlets that distribute our product.

Western Cape
GrandSlam VW
Flat 4 Racing

Guateng
Helmut Motor Spares
Volkspares

Eastern Cape
Vintage Kombi

Bloemfontein
Gerhard Volksie Mueseum

Then obviously the Franchise fitment centres, Supa Quick's, Speedy's, Kwik-Fits etc.
