In October 2017 we recovered this very rare bus (one of 12 built in RHD) and according to our records one of three in existence, off an island on Lake Kariba, Zimbabwe. The bus has been in storage for 54 years !! since 1963 till 2017 when we recovered it , never used by the second owner. (see video )
We shot a short documentary of the recovery of this rare bus for your enjoyment. once we had imported the bus into SA we cleaned her up, replaced all the brake parts and rubbers and serviced the 1200 engine and gave her a good polish to bring out the shine again !
The tent is in original condition , all complete with no holes at all ! the upholstery is immaculate and the mechanics are like new !
This bus only did 18000 miles since new ! The steering is very nice and tight, the gearshift nice and crisp ! unbelievable over all condition
The owner had put the bus on auction so we paid a fair (not cheap) market related price in US$ and did the full import into SA.
.....but finding this bus just shows you ...they are still out there.. We have put this very rare bus up For sale both Locally and abroad.
Here is a link to the short video...enjoy !

Sambas in South Africa are good for only 2 things: showing off and sunburn.
