Hey guys,
My 1976 Beetle 1600S engine is leaking oil from the oil cooler and push rod covers (not sure where else). Is there someone you can recommend who can uninstall the engine and repair it at a reasonable cost in the Pretoria/Jhb area?
How much do think something like this would cost?
Thanks for the help.
Regards
Shaheed

Re: Beetle 1600 Engine recon
Hi guys,
Just an update for anybody who will experience a similar issue.
I managed to get an experienced air cooled engine mechanic (Dirk - 082 964 1662) he came out to my place and replaced the oil cooler seals
without having to drop the engine.
I've attached some pics for anyone interested.
Kind regards

Thanks for that. I would probably still have dropped the engine. So I guess he didn't replace the pushrod tube seals? For that he will have to drop the engine. Unless there is another way?

Hi.
I thought that it was leaking from the push rod seals but actually the oil was running down onto the push rods from the leak above it.
Have a look at the pic I've attached.
