Model year 1971 (starting in August 1970) saw the introduction of the twin-port engine and the second pair of cooling vents on the engine cover. I believe 1969 and 1970 models had 2 sets of vents, while 1968 models had no vents.

Also on the plate is the paint code...06. In 71 that was gold but a very weird gold...it was more greenish than gold https://www.google.co.za/url?sa=i&url=h ... AdAAAAABAW

People had different perceptions about that colour since back in the day.
You could start a fight on a school playground about that colour. I still remember the shouting: "that car is green!" "it's not green, that car is definitely yellow!"
The shouting would attract a bigger crowd, and everybody had his own serious perception/opinion on that colour.
Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.
Do'nt assume anything- (While doing fault-finding).
