No chance....Rand will continue to strengthen in 2010 as there is demand for the currency and mining exports are on the increase! If you have them, I suggest HOLD! :zhelp:

Well, nothing like some serious labour unrest on the run up to an election, to get the rand heading south. Moody and S&P have downrated us and Fitch will follow.....though this is probably priced into current rate. Let's see if the countries current leadership team can steady this a tad......otherwise we are looking down the barrel at ZAR10/$1.

Wouldnt be the first time.
From the beginning of November to mid December 2008 the dollar was worth more than 10 rand.
After that from October 2012 to June 2011 the dollar was below R7...

It goes in trends.

Dont forget that the miners strikes are also reducing supply which means that demand and prices will go up. So when they get back to work, the money will come flowing back in and the rand will recover...

This may be bad news for a lot of guys, but, it makes me glad, now we will not be swamped by Cheap import goods, we will be able to export with more competitive prices, the local motor industries will be able to get more exports, more jobs will be filled, more money on the streets, more guys spend more money, and maybe I could get a stinking increase........ :D

thats also true. SA is an export country which makes a large percentage of its money from exports
A few years ago the big debate was about SA needing an exchange rate of 10:1 to be profitable....

Everytime the Rand goes down a point, I get a 10% increase. The Rand has been strong for a long time now, and I have an Amarok to pay for!
