Hitlers revenge: Yeah, I'll just keep an eye on the Event section then, saw your topic 'CAPE TOWN MEET' there, I guess more like that will pop up.

Ron&Gill: Maybe they have lowered their rides so radically they can't get out of the garage...

Ha! Maybe...

I don't keep tabs on people, but I think some of the main players in this informal club have sold their vehicles or are of changed circumstance, or have their priorities elsewhere. Gill and I have unfortunately not heard from anyone of this nice group of people for quite some time now. It's a big pity, I went on 2 of their get-togethers and really enjoyed myself.

AFAIK the CTKOC is still around, if not very active. Certainly all the movers and shakers in the club that I know are still active bus drivers and/or collectors. I know Jean, who seemed to be the main mover, spends most of his time on business in China these days. Paul just joined this forum, maybe he will respond.

Hi Ron, hope all is good with you and Gill, it has been a while .....................
(I saw your seats for your Notch at Jurgen's today, very nice upholstery work there. Cannot wait to see the car!)
Christian is correct,The Slaap Stad Kombi Club 8) is still around. True, some busses have been sold, under restoration, some guys have relocated,
some dudes believe they are getting "old", etc, etc, etc. But we're still around, our last outing was to a Bikers
Rally about 3 months ago in Wellington. Perhaps it's time for another technical day at Grandslam in Gordens Bay,
haven't had one of those for a long time.
Most of the Cape Town Kombi Club guys are'nt active on the internet, and it is'nt really a formal club as such. Jean kind
of holds it together with his SMS list, someone suggests an outing or camp out or whatever, and Jean sends the message out,
and those who want to attend take it from there. It works well, but we have been kind of laid back recently.
If you own a split or bay window Kombi, Pick-Up, etc, etc and would like to be on the SMS list, please PM me and
I'll give your details to Jean. His dad just passed away, so rather don't contact him right now.
Roelf, when do you arrive in the Cape, we would love to meet up with you ?
Cheers. Paul 082 417 4553

Jurgen was talking about a GrandSlam tech day with a Braai when I was there......it would be great to do one of them again and maybe a joint Forum & Cape Town club meet!

Hi Paul, I'll be in the Cape from the start of october til mid november'ish and would love to meet up with aircooled people down there. I guess we'll (me and girlfrind) download SA maps to my GPS and rent a car during my stay so we can get around. Probably not an aircooled ride but we'll might be welcome to aircooled meetings anyway...? we can park it around the corner so you don't have to see it.

Howzit Loef

Cool ! It would be fantastic to meet you and your girlfriend, we must just make a date with Jurgen and see if
it's good with you or vice versa. But Jurgen will chase us all away from his workshop if you come in a "best beetle",
(you are wicked Hitler's Revenge!!!). This German mechanic is very fussy man !
You hand over your passport and we will find you an aircooled car to drive to Grandslam ja ? :hangloose:

Hi Loef, 16th October, how does that sound for you? Ron will you be around here for a while, i.e the Sat before and after the 16th Oct. Need to confirm with Jurgen, etc, etc. Does Gill still have her bus, it's been ages since I saw it last ? Come to think of it, its been a while since I saw you guys!
Frank, eish, sorry man, Grandslam will be a bit "quieter" without you. But we will have a beer(s) and a bloedwors in your Honour dude :drunks:
