I have been trying to get insurance on my bus the whole morning. No one want to insure it if it is over 30 years  the best I can get to far is 3rd party liability that is all. Anyone know where I can go for insurance on my 1965 bus?

Thanks
Marius

I am waiting on more info' from a contact for vintage insurance and will let you know as soon as I know.

I'll post the info' here when I get it.

Cheers, Nic

Guys,

I'm insuring my Fleetline, full comprehensive insurance, vehicle value of R60 000, for R40 a month.

Go check out http://www.savva.org.za

Only trick here is you have to belong to a club that is part of SAVVA (South African Vintage Vehicle Association), for all the people living in Preotria, you can join Pretoria Old Motor Club (http://www.pomc.co.za ). Even if it's just for the insurance.

Oh there are certain "rules" to the insurance, one is it may not be your daily driver.

Very useful Korn005.

Also Outsurance has that special insurance, sure you remember the ads where the guy is polishing his beetle etc...they will insure cars older than 20 years and with a value of R50k max...

Check them both out....

Prestasie/indewe told me I had to do a complete AA check on the buggy before they will insure it.

If your buggy has a roadworthy certificate, it shouldn't be a problem to insure it for 3rd party.

You will have to get a valuation from an accredited Buggy builder (like Volkspares or Beamish) to estimate a replacement value for your buggy, if you want to insure it completely.

We had motor insurance on our company kakkie, T5 2.5L TDi. I think it was offered through Westbank. When the Turbo bearings started to fail at 130 000km and the turbo needed replacing, it was considered normal wear and tear and not covered. I think it was a motorite policy. It probably would have covered the damage if we ignored the slight bearing whistle and allowed the turbo to fail possibly damaging the mill. Who knows? I'm not a big fan of insurance. 3rd party to cover the other guy's Bugatti Veyron and put the "insurance money" into a MMI transferring the build up to a long term share like Crookes Bros or AVI now and then.
