Adjustable back Beetle spring plate sets

Post by Bugger »

As some of you guys know I am busy with the Adjustable straight axle conversion kit for Split window bus
I am going to make a set or 2 of the Beetle Adjustable spring plates,so no more beetles hanging on the one side when dropped, now you can adjust both sides 100% by adjusting the spring plate adjusting screw

I had a imported set Chemically analogized and now know what is the right steel to use

Will there be guys that will be interested in Acquiring a set of them for your beetle ??

Super keen on a set or two. How effective will they be for raising for better ground clearance and fitting 4x4 tyres?

Pierre
Will it be posible to widen the rear track more than just the beatle width. I need to fill a Porsche 930 rear fender with either a very wide wheel or a wide suspension and a normal wheel.
cheers baron

Hloni you will be able to fine adjust the left and right side to precise level
It will be the same as std spring plates just adjustable to a few degrees to lower and raise the bug with out stripping everything out and pulling the torsion bars
out every time you want to adjust

The adjustment should give you about 2 1/2 inches up and down

Baron the easiest will most probably be to make ally spacers to bring the wheels out

To lengthen the Axles is possible and axle tubes but will be Quite a expensive Exercise, We can use 2 sets of axles and get them cut and spline d joined to lengthen them but How strong that will be is another Question

Pierre, did you ever make a set of adjustable spring plates? Looking for some on my 1974 standard Beetle. PM me if you have a set available. I am assuming that they will fit a '62 as well?
