New pushrod tube IMPI 88,s

Hi I have been struggling to find an acceptable aftermarket pushrod tube for a long time now and after some tinkering and a whole lot of research and slog im a proud to announce my version of the pushrod tube
some features:
One piece design will not leak in the middle
can be installed with the engine assembled
large 20mm inside diameter at the head (std is 18.5mm) this allows for high lift cams and ratio rockers)
spring loaded design allows for expansion and contraction as engine heats and cools
case side can be made longer (special order) to counter oil flow to the heads under severe cornering)
tubes may be ordered longer for use in stroker engines with barrel spacers.
I am currently setting up the production line and will be able to deliver by the end of the month
A rough estimate on cost would be around R75 per tube without seals and R8 per seal based on me having a first run of a hundred tubes
I am currently registering the design and is using these photos as the first unveiling on the net.

Photo of the case end showing the different styles available

I can be contacted by PM or E mail (a w botha at telkom sa dot net)
Regards
Armand

Sweetness... some South African Aircooled Technology :hangloose:

Are these push rod tubes aluminium or stainless steel. What are the differences between the 3 types in the pic.

My tubes are made from aluminium. Stainless would also work but not too good in my opinion since both head and case is alloy introducing a different metal could cause galvanic corrosion and you would rather the tube corrode than the head or case.
The other tubes are the different type available on the market in SA They are all two piece introducing yet another possible leaking point and range from merely terrible to very bad get you home type

Hi Armand,
I think you have brilliant idea there, love the concept, and easy to fit, without taking the head off.
Love it.

I like.

I have used those aluminium ones in the pic (not IMPI's) and they damaged the push rods (high ratio rockers). I replaced them with the plastic ones with the spring on the outside, and they are fine up to now. They are just a pig to keep clean.

I definitely like the IMPI design.

Hi Armand got my hands on a few of these, I find that the spring does not have much tension, I fitted 4 and the push rods seem rather "loose" and had to do some work on the head to make them fit, let me know what is your take on my finding, yours are very simmilar to the US made J-Cee tubes.
Not run the motor yet but hoping for no leaks.

Hi there has been much discussion on internet forums and the comment of too much spring pressure is heard more often than too little pressure. I have removed a lot of the plastic and alu tubes in my time and most often the seal is completely destroyed due to over tension. Ultimately the seal is doing the work and not the spring. I use silicone based Elring seals and they seal well but over tension can make them push out like toothpaste.
If more tension is felt to be needed such as with stroker engines I can move the circlip groove or you can add another spacer behind the spring. but I really think it is unnecesarry. The alu tube will also expand more than cast iron when hot thus providing more tension when at operating temp
