Re: Retrovans MeFusco Beetle Truck Project
Thanks But I managed to get one from the only possible place in PE.
This guy has anything, but anything, all at a price of cause.
But thanks for coming back to me, had a 24 v dc one in my box, not sure where it comes from but anyway.
Getting done with the electrics, and just have to drill and tapp for the oil temp. pick up.
Also fitting the brake lines and on the run to the back my measurements where exactly wrong.
By 50 mm, so we need to get an extension section to fill the gap.
Fitted all the lights, wiper motor, brake MC and will be doing the engine rubbers next.
Whats that ...... Have I tested the electrics you ask, .....Hell No !!!.... Need to get it all done, and every thing ready so when I test I test it all, wiring engine the works.....
Well let me get to the TV before someone else grabs it
Till next time.

Want to see some pics...
When you go to RAGAS, ask them for some 25HP Pistons, I am desperate.

Re: Retrovans MeFusco Beetle Truck Project
Not much to see, as most work is under somewhere and not very interesting in small bits.
BUT...
Here is a few pics to calm your addiction......
Hope you like the lay-out.
click twice on the pic to make then nice and big
As can be seen from the last pic, I still need the plastic trim for the 3 holes in the dash to complete it.
Also need the two wiper arms , will look around this week. ....
Till next time

Re: Retrovans MeFusco Beetle Truck Project
Nick, you not the 1st one to say that, looks like I will have to take him to initiation school.....
So we got the brake lines done, and filled with brake fluid
Did some basic bleeding and got a firm peddle.
Will have to do a full bleed before taking it for a run, just want the rubbers to seat and swell into place before I do that.
But to quote @dixtoy, MeFusco is now addicted to break fluid and will hopefully be able to stop anytime....
Thanks for that one Dixon.
Clutch cable is next with the gear lever re-fitment.

Re: Retrovans MeFusco Beetle Truck Project
So the week has gone, and everybody's in bed, we have come up from the workshop and had a shower, cooling off and relaxing before bed.
The aim for the weekend was to get the stabilizer bar in, fit and try the gear lever , rod and adjustments, and install the clutch cable.
The gear lever went in no problem, had a bit of an issue setting it to get all the gears, its there but should maybe need fine tuning when the motor is running.
Installed the clutch cable twice, as the 1st time was a dry run with out grease to see it it works.
Also decided to test some of the electrics, and glad I did, as most did not work.........
Pain in the butt. was seeing my self strip everything out and start again........
Decided to test all the circuits with a test light, and Hey !! Bingo !! the fuse was not put in correctly,
Popped it in right and presto all systems go. Not happy with the aftermarket Indicator/light dim bright stalk,
as it is not very positive on the dim bright function.
THEN We got to the stabilizer Bar, offered it up, and what do you know, it will not fit.....
I started to yell, "who did the drawing ??"
They all replied together that cousin Who had noting to do with it, it was Me.
So saying it was Me that got it all wrong ??
Well I can not blame Myself
Let Me go get the drawing and see where this went wrong.
I studied the drawing and this reassured Me that the mistake was not made by Myself.
It was the supplier .......
OK so we had to cut and refit the mounting ends, before fitting it.
Must report its all looking good and should do the job.
So this week we going to do the engine rubber sealing and clean out the tank before fitting the fuel lines.
So till next time from the 3 of us, ( having a split personality is a lot better then working alone)
thanks for looking

Re: Retrovans MeFusco Beetle Truck Project
The thing with packing the tools is that you work till late and you're too tired to pack up and reckon you'll leave everything as is because you'll continue with the same job in the morning. The next morning something else comes up and you leave the tools unpacked. Time goes by and you suddenly need THAT tool, which you can't find, and end up buying a new one. And then, THAT tool is found. That's how I ended up with about ten 13 spanners and thirteen 10 spanners!

Re: Retrovans MeFusco Beetle Truck Project
I'm not as crazy as I,.....we thought!! It seems that it is a "thing" with a 10 and 13 ring/open end spanners all over the world !!! Side cutters are not too far behind I'd say !!
