I've done a complete inventory of all the parts I need to restore this bus. Here's the list, in order of priority:

All parts for a June 57 bus:

Taillights (Euro spec 55-58)
Centre brake light
Speedometer
Cargo door outside handle/lock
Raermost side cargo door (in original dove blue with pinstripe)
Middle seat
Front floor mat
Cargo floor mat
Headlights
Windscreens (with correct Armorfloat logos)
1x rear window catch
Complete front suspension & brakes
Complete transmission, drum to drum
5x correctly dated bus wheels

Nice to have:
Complete set of seats in original upholstery
Rear hatch (original paint dove blue with pinstripe)
Engine hatch (with centre brake light, original paint dove blue)
Rear valence (with hole for crank start)

And pretty much anything else that anyone may have for a mid-57 kombi.

This is what the taillights look like:

Thanks BAB! I'm definitely interested in all of the above.

The main requirement is that all the parts need to be 55-58 at least, if not specifically 6/57. Parts like engines, speedos, rims, etc are all date stamped.

So back to my dilemma:

Re my shopping list above, I already have all the needed parts, but they are attached to my May 57 kombi. Despite the resistance from here, I will cannibalise that bus if I don't find the main needed bits in the next few months.

I already have incorrect year parts to replace all the bits I want from the 5/57 kombi, so it's not as though I would be stripping it; just compromising its originality to build an even more "original" bus.

But in the meantime I'm giving it my best shot to find all the parts I need without taking from the 5/57 bus.

There were some DCs, but they were part of the big bus giveaway. See the thread in the Giveaways forum.

I already have a buyer lined up for the May 57 bus; it's a trade for another car.

In its current condition I'd say its local value is somewhere around R80k-R100k. In the UK it would fetch more than £10k.
