car is currently in a mess.
No brakes, no hubs, no fuel, no engine, no gbox....
Shiv, I have my work cut out to get her to George...

other than the list above, the next 2 weeks will include:
install new radio
install remote oil cooler and make up new oil lines, also wire in fan for cooler
install gbox brace
install new fuel pump
install larger fuel lines and pressure regulator
figure out why I have a flat spot
hopefully get her dynoed (dont count on this one)
make up stud kits for hubs
all new wheel bearings on all 4 corners
get modified fan housing and powdercoat it
block off stock oil cooler
change rear shocks

if anyone in CPT is bored, you are welcome to watch, laugh or help - choice is yours

I'll just comment:

WTF are you installing a radio for when you have tinnitus after travelling 60km in Suicide with the current exhaust? An item which, by the way, I don't see on you list to remedy!

There's one off the list. I can help, see?

OK, time for a small update

Work is going slowly. I could be working harder and longer hours, but I am not.
Pretty sure the car will get to George, but it wont be 100% up and running, I am slowly running out of time and I am on leave, so dont want to spend every minute I have working on it.
Lets not talk about funds and what this is costing me - its not the big bits that cost, its all the little bits, high tensile this, special that.... and my labour is free, I dont even want to imagine what someone would charge for all this work.

Current situation....

Front rims are on, but the car is still off the ground, so I cant make sure that they fit under the fenders yet - even tho they do look good. No pics tho.

Along with the mags, I also upgraded from GTI to VR6 discs and modified the hubs to accept studs. The hubs were also drilled for 5x100PCD as they were 4x100.
Needless to say, the conversion kit needed modifications as it didnt clear the caliper and nor does it line up to the disc properly.

This is the size difference.

Thanks to Barry, I managed to borrow a welder and set the mounting of my "kaefer cup brace" into motion.
This wasnt a huge job, but the installation manual does state that you need the engine and gearbox mounted in the car (both are out) and the body off the floorpan (mine is on). So this got a little complex and I needed to make up new mounts for the lower mounts which go onto the gearbox carrier. Alas all done and now welded up and mounted.
Final assembly will be done once the gearbox is back in the car

also decided to get new rear shocks while doing this, and they even came in black to match the rest of the black dirt covering everything that might actually be any other colour

After mounting the Kaefer cup brace, I went ahead and found a spot to mount my oil cooler.
Here you can see it in the flesh before installation

I then put some chicken wire over it to hopefully prevent leaves and plastic bags stopping the airflow and mounted it. Te chicken mesh is roughly 1cm off the fins to allow some air to still flow if a bag does get stuck on it...

Looking good.....isn't the oil cooler going to hit the gearbox or drive shafts?

I'm helping, I'm feeding you on Saturday
