Re: My Project beetle - wish me luck !
Finished the bootlid off today
Still need another coat on the bonnet
I swapped out the engine from my kombi which looks like a single port 1500 which was way underpowered for the bus, I think it will better suit the beetle
Now theres enough space to put back the piece I hacked out for the type 4 engine

Re: My Project beetle - wish me luck !
Its been a while since Ive posted anything . The beetles going ok, looks like I may need to overhaul the engine sometime, put some extra bits and so on it.
The wheels have changed (again) and some EMPI bits have been added.....More pics to follow.

Re: My Project beetle - wish me luck !
Since my last post Ive been having problems with the front suspension, So it was time to redo all the joints and went for a front disc brake conversion and lowered the front with adjusters. Due to the new disc brakes been 4 x 100 pcd, it was time to change up the wheels and got 2 adapters for the rear. I decided I want to keep the wheels OEM and went with a set of 1981 Jetta 13 inch rims. Brakes have now been bled and its time to set the wheel alignment. This is going to have to be a DIY job as the places around here dont want to touch my beetle because its lowered and does not have the period correct rims.

Re: My Project beetle - wish me luck !
I just found some before and after pics of the rims
example
before
repainted with 2K rim silver
Whitewall and rubber installed
Anyone know where I can get hold of the trim rings?

Re: My Project beetle - wish me luck !
Will look good, but you do know you will effect your top speed, and if you push it on the open road, you will over rev the aircooled motor and kill it.
On the other hand, you will have a killer pull-away.....

Re: My Project beetle - wish me luck !
Hi again , yes I will not be pushing the car hard as I realised the 13 inch revs can be high. I normally go max 80-90 km/h anyways will try to keep the speed low n slow
