nothing wrong there with your eyes, the 1 is square and the other 3 are rounded :zhelp: :zhelp:

Well seeing that the pan i had was very vrot ,I bought a complete baja minus engine from an ex forum member [luke].
stripped the baja there in his yard and only took what i needed or could resell again

Image
the pan was in a good condition with just a rust hole under the battery area the size of a r5 coin

removed all the tarboard from the floors and the youngest was more than willing to lend a hand
Image

As the shell was already green i decided to spray the chassis hammerite green on top

Greenbean supplied me with a set of highback fibreglass seats :hangloose: :hangloose: all i had to do was modify beetle seat bases to make the work
Image

checking for clearance above my head so that im not higher than the rollbar or windshieldframe
Image

Image
after driving it for a while now ,ive realised that the seats are too far laid back ,i have to drive with my arms nearly fully extended so next on the to do list will be to lift the rear of the seats to more of an upright driving position

ToyIng with the idea of converting this back to a Baja/open top or closed top /as i dont feel comfortable with the idea of 2 kids on the back'seat with no real form of protection aeound or above them whatsoever

Ok,heres the plan ,im going to cut the rear seating area out of the buggy and replace it with a beetle rear section
so that i can get my back seats more forward and lower inside the car .

this is how it sits currently

im trying to get this effect
kombi 136.jpg
or do something like this ,

And the cutting has begun :hangloose:

started with his
26112012(003).jpg

the rear profile of the buggy and a beetle is too different so i had to trim it some more
18122012(002).jpg
the 1st cut is always the hardest to make, but once that grinder started cutting ,theresb no more turning back now
