Okay and so it starts..........
Was looking for an old Bug 1963 or older and saw this one in randburg.
I had seen others in better condition but there was a spark when we met and I knew that she/he was the one!
2584

One week after buying him/her (still don't know what to call the Bug) the motor lost power!
Found out that the one spark plug thread in the head had an insert in and it burnt thru, even burnt the plug hex and valve! :(
Before:
2585

I'm no machanic so I sent my Bug in to be repaired and got him/her back like this! :D :D :D
2586

Okay so now the motor is sorted so I decided to do some cosmetic stuff.
The rear bumper was in a bad state, but got a spare with the car when i bought him/her!
2621

After ALLOT of rubbing and polishing I did a Cinderella transformation on the spare bumper!
2587

Only problem now is that the part where the bumper bolts to the car is slightly disintigrated from whatever happened in the past!
So I need to replace the mounting on the chassis.

The interior is not too bad, BUT not the right seats for the year model.
Will have to find the correct ones, would like him/her to be as origional as possable!
2624

Got hold of an origional mirror so the I think "Ghia" style mirror is off! (Left with a hole in the door for now!)
2623

I also got hold of the mesh that goes behind the dash speaker thing, will do that later. (not sure of the real technical name!)
And have a hooter ring for the steering! :D
2625

Looking forward to getting the Bug up to scratch!
The color is not origional so I was thinking of spraying him/her the turquoise that the 62's came in.
Think it will make the Bug stand out a bit! 8)
And from what I can see under some of the covers it is close to or might even be the origional color! :hangloose:
Going to have allot of cool memories fixing and riding him/her!

I like Pre 67's so much, I made my old 70 look like one. Gas cap gives away its true age.

I think that I still have an old set of clears with new bases and rubbers, if I do, you're free to take them off my hands.............no charge.

Was fitting the towel tail mounting bracket/support yeaterday afternoon. Not sure of the name! (the black pipe that bolts onto the car)
Got caught red handed loving my Bug on Valentines day when the wife came home early!
Found a broken off bolt that I had to remove so I had to take the towel rails off again! (Yes I saw the bolt while cleaning the bumper but forgot about it!)
Take two this afternoon! :D

Found out yesterday that my Bug has the wrong head lights in! :x
Did some homework and found out that the headlight lenses are euro style and the mounting bits are US style!
Eish, now to get either new front lenses or new mounting bits! :(
Think I'll go Euro style, don't care much for the sealed beam and clear lenses! :D

Was polishing the Beetle yesterday with my son to try get some shine back into the matt paint.
Little dude got very quiet on the other side of the car.
Found this when I went to see what he was doing!

Little dude built an aircooled convoy! :hangloose:

That's a lovely '62! What can I say; '62's are one of a kind  .

Whoever your mechanic is, he clearly goes beyond the call of duty  . Your motor looks brand new!

All the best with the work on her/him

:hangloose:

WOO-HOO! :D
Got my ACVWSA stickers in the post today! :D
Going to add some major BLING to my Beetle this afternoon! 8)

Been drooling over this color Bug!
2653
It looks to be the origional color of my Bug under the panels! 8)
Can't wait for the day he/she goes for a fresh coat!
Was thinking doing the same look with a slight twist!
Rims I want chromed
2588
and the roof rack must be chrome!
