I hope something changes and you decide to keep her stock
Note your concern, but what ever happens, I will retain all stock parts, so should the next minder of this bus so desire, it can be brought back to STOCK

Just want to enjoy my time with her, she is not a "Trophy Bus" but a enjoyable member of the family, as well as a safe one.

Well as it is winter, and as I am snowed under by work, I have not had much time for the projects.

Have had the new (for me) Front Beam sandblasted and ready-ed for painting.

From this ...........

Image

Got the red oxide primer on, nice and smooth, to this .......

Now all I have to do tomorrow, is to get the satin black top coat on.

Also waiting for some body panels  to appear.

Till then.

Right, so as stated in an other thread, the Fleetline is no more up for sale, as the guys wanting to buy her did not meet my needs.

So as her "care giver" for the next few years, she will be restored to a daily driver, for my own personal use and pleasure.

She has been sent of to the Body repair guys that did an excellent job on the 52 Beetle, where she will be residing for the next few months.

Come June we hope to have her back home with a new lease of life.

What colour will she be, ....I hear you all shouting....., well she will be..... what she is and you all will have to wait and see.

Colour that came to mind.....

Metallic Purple

Pearl dark green

Army sand yellow

Barbie Pink.......

:wtf:

So no comments on my choice of colours from the purists................

Maybe some ideas then....................

Something different to all the others, but not silly..... Maybe....

Some help here guys....

OK, some progres..

Had the Bus sandblasted, and it looks like Swiss Cheese.

Now prior to panel repair and replacement, the Bus was Painted for rust prevention during welding.

Now she looks like this......

Just a change of plan, If you followed this thread, you may have seen the section that said I want to extend the back of the bus by 50mm, well I have decided that this will not happen any more.

Now you all are contemplating, Did the lynch mob get to him, not to modify the body, under threat of death.

Or has his conscious kept him from sound sleep since this statement..??..

No none of the above, I have decided that as the bus will have the raised look to it, the "open Hood" look will fit perfectly

For thous not knowing of my theory test bus, The Fugly, here is a photo of the open hood look..

Image

So here is a photo of the back with engine in ;-

Image

Here the sides sealed to keep hatch sealed ;-

Image

Image

So the hood is still closed off, and air sealed, but it looks open, with the 2lt type 4 hiding behind it.

Till next time

The Split Panelvan has had some surgery,

Rust converted into Holes....

Holes converted into New Steel.....

And if we do this long enough, and offern enough,

we should have a solid Panel Van again to enjoy.

So with the metal work coming along nicely, and the 1952 Beetle getting her Coat of paint,

The George entry's are starting to look positive.........

Now if only Work would not interfere on a daily basis.......

SO HERMAN.....
THE PROGRESS IS MOTIVATING.
ARE YOU USING A MIG WELDER? 6 OR 8MM?
ARE ALL OF THE PANELS GREEN OR HAVE YOU MADE THE GUTTER SECTION AND BOTTOM YOURSELF?
ANY REASON YOU HAVE LAPPED THE EDGES AND NOT MADE A FLUSH JOIN?
