Started assembly of some of the bits and bobs
Looks like I need a pile of rubber seals for indicators and tail lights etc. which we probably have to order from the US

Stuck the front vents in after polishing
Image
Image
And the bonnet clips
Then realized that the pin was covered in old paint which had to be cleaned so I pulled out all the stuff that still has old old paint or over spray

Image
So out came the newly chromed bumpers so we started assembling them too but I am missing a couple of bolts and nuts

Read your posts boet, I offered to donate a ghia side badge to the project earlier in this thread
No sense being pessimistic. It wouldn't work anyway.

So decided to fit the Karmann Ghia rear badge last night and it doesn't fit
After some research it looks like I have the 11 3/4 inch badge and I need th 9 inch older badge
So I will have to see if I can swap it or find another

Also missing the Volkswagen badge on the left and it looks like there was a badge on the cubbyhole
Anyone have a Volkswagen badge with 10 cm and 11 cm spacing between the pins ?

Dented the budget a bit yesterday at Volkspares
Chrome side trim and full set plus clips Indicator seals , fuse box , new deck lid badge
Nearly paid R1400 for door check strap and pins then thankfully came to my senses so I decided to look again as they didn't look familiar
I then found out that the doors we have have spring type check straps?
Anyone seen these before ?Image
Image
I assume that I will need to attach them to a bracket with 2 holes to compress the spring but I have no reference?
Anyone else have similar setup?
We also fitted the bonnet and deck lid rubbers

by the way, the engine compartment rubber is not supposed to go all round, only bottom halve has rubber, don't ask me why, might have something to do with cooling

Yes I saw that but when presented with a perfectly good full length piece I couldn't bring myself to cut it like that and have to explain why

Stuck the door handles on and side trim
Managed to get window felt strips from Pro Auto Rubber thrown in as part of the rubber kit and clips from volkspares
Also stuck the front bumper on and made son spacers for the back bumper where it attaches to the body
ImageImageImage
Not sure if I need window felt strips on both sides of the glass
Will try do some research before fitting all the new rubbers and door trim
Any pics would be welcome
Going to try make new brackets for the door straps to attach to
