It worked! :)

I will also be replacing the lights which are pretty badly sun damaged.

Thank you. There are some spots I'm not 100% happy with but those will be fixed in the next few weeks.

It'll get some "houding" with use, won't stay perfect all the time, and that will also add character.

Spent the day washing the chassis.cant believe how much sand and "stuff" came off and out of it. Had to wash the driveway afterwards.
Also sorted out all the electrics and everything is now working as it should.

Couldn't resist a drive around the neighbourhood and had a few people wave including a gent in a microbus. During the drive I noticed that there seemed to be a weird scrapping noise. It sounds almost like worn brake pads but the sound doesn't change when the brakes are applied. Will figure it out. Any ideas?

I was a bit nervous as we made the decision to keep the executive beading on the kombi and thus not fill in the holes for the grommets to which the beading attaches. I was also a little worried I would not find replacement grommets. Well the good news is i found a complete spare set of the beading and have found a good alternative option for the grommets, which i actually think are better than the originals as they seal the hole completely.

If anyone requires parts of the beading set let me know as I will have spares that I would be willing to trade for something :D . Not all are in great condition though.

Also if you require new grommets you can get them from BMW. The part number is 51711932996
Here are some pictures of the grommets (stolen off the web)

I fitted all the exterior beading and the BMW clips are brilliant and work perfectly. They also don't leak.
I also started fitting the new rubbers to the front doors, door handles and rear door handles.
I'm dropping it off at the panel shop tomorrow for some minor repairs and will get it back by Wednesday. So watch out for me driving between Randpark Ridge and Krugersdorp tomorrow morning.

Next up I start with the mechanical stuff, lights and interior.

Thank you.
Yes i will have both but not sure in the condition. I also don't have the bus with me as I dropped it off earlier today so can't check for you now.
You are welcome to come visit and have a look. You can have them if they are suitable.

The parts I'm looking for from the motor are (which are more expensive so will pay)
- heater boxes (exhaust) especially the left one
- fan grill

I'm also looking for someone to lend me the cab floor rubber mat for 10mins so I can trace it out. Would consider the beading as payment😀
