Re: My first beetle build - 1971.
Got my car back from the spray painter and I must say he did a very good job.
Today I installed the new wheels and the chrome beading on the red and black split.

So I got a bit of rust surprise as soon I started removing the tar boards underneath the driver seat. Cleaned the rust up with a grinder, treated it with rustoleum and fiberglassed the holes.
The rest of the pan looks solid except for this spot.

Re: My first beetle build - 1971.
So I guess it is time for a bit of an update. I had all my local beetle buddies over to assist me with installing the engine and getting her firing up. (Bribed them with beer )
Engine in:
I also installed some sound deadening. I went with the roof repair products because of budget and not enough evidence found that it doesn't work.
Also started with my carpets. I went over to my local ceramic tile shop and bought some edge trim that is normally used on stairs. Took some modification but now I have some door sills for beetle on a budget
