Icepic from Rotary beetle to Aircooled baja

Post by dixtoy »

This was just a fast low budget project to have a running beetle while Lindor is standing

Wanted to fix the rotten pan since I bought the beetle, so this was a good time

Image
Image

Wanted something different so I just cut the steel fenders

Image
Image

Quick back yard spray job

Image
Image

Dropped the back, it's has a type3 IRS suspension so it's easy
Image
Dropped the front a bit
Image

Took the 1835 from the buggy as it doesn't get used much
Image

Left the interior as it was, wife's still busy covering the door panels

She is most happy with me in garage playing with the tools an spares. Mom's just complaining about every piece of clothing she has is full of oil.

Nice job, check those rear lights, my brother used them on his buggy, they work well at night but hopeless during the day
couldn't see any brake lights or indicators due to the angle. Get someone to drive behind you to check.
No sense being pessimistic. It wouldn't work anyway.

Also have them on my buggy, wife used to complain big time when driving behind me. You can't see it clearly on the pics, but I did bent the corners of the fenders down a bit so the lights stands more vertical.

maybe install a second set of lights inside the wheel well hidden from normal eyes but visible from a driving height? LEDs or bike lights?

Real Dixtoy nice toy,on the fenders you can get 6mm or 8mm tubing or round bar bend them to the shape of each fender tack them on all round let it sit 50% in and 50% out fill the gap in with filler sand it down and you should end up with nice round edges on all the fenders where you cut them. :hangloose:
