IT will take a bit of time as prep work is 1st then prime inside and out, then underbody chip proof, then top coat then clear coat, so will be a BIT..

Just an update for the guys thinking and asking if this here project has ground to a halt.

NO

No ... not at all, due to the rust and accident damaged body used there is a :bn: load of prep work to be done before any primer can be applied.

So what have you guys been doing, I hear you all ask.... well Me, Myself and I have been busy getting the bits and bobs needed to complete this build when MeFusco gets back from paint.

As he will be sporting a two tone MATT paint work, we need to get rid of all the chrome, this means prepping and painting it all and "blacking" it all out.

Thats MATT blacking the chrome parts.

So you might say that MeFusco will be 3 tone, black being one of them........

As we will not have much time when he gets back to ready him for his unveiling, we need to make sure most is done by that time.

And getting parts now is a bit of a impossibility.

So now you all know where we are and as things progress I, will post these happenings for you.

Stay Safe

Herman

Things are tough out there so one can understand if not much progress has been made but hopefully Herman is in a better position than most and can carry on with his build. Good luck Herman we know you are not a quitter so it will take time but you will nail it first time.

Thanks guys, yes as long as we have health, we will keep going.

As said, Had I started with a perfect beetle, the project would have been done.

But as I did not want to cutup a perfect body for this project I must now take time to repair accident damage and cut out rust before paint.

But if there is a George, then we will try to be there.

Thanks for your interest guys, its inspirational.

Very chuffed with myself, found a Brand New Tinted windscreen for MeFusco today.

So now we have all the glass ready.

Just have to get some light tint for the other glass as I want to have them all the same.........

Will give Mr. Tint a call.....

Spent today stripping and straitening the hood / bonnet catch and release unit.

This was completely bent and twisted from the accidents the beetle had over the years.
Drilled out all 4 pop rivets and panel beat the loose bits into more or less what they where to look like when leaving the factory.

Yes, had to cut out this part as the gear rod passes into this area but will be trying to refit it to the trimmed hood.

So managed to get it all straight and re-assembled and fitted back onto the backing plate that was cut out.

So when MeFusco gets back, we will try to fit it so we have a handle and catch that works.

So whats happening .....

Well the prep work is coming along just nicely,

Will be going into final primer by the end of this week,

and then doing the last little bit to see if she is ready for final colour.

Yes I have the colour all sorted, and have made some spray-outs.

Will be making the Desert Sand a bit lighter, but very happy with the Olive Drab.

And stop asking, will not post these spray-outs you'all will have to wait till MeFusco is revealed in his final glory.

Mans got to give him his few minutes of fame......

Till next time

In most yes, as this will not be a slap-on and cruise build, but a total build up and test of all parts working together.

The last part that we are waiting for at this time is the anti roll bar/ anti sway bar. As this is a one off, it has to be made and heat treated.

the only part not independently tested is the gearbox. Yes it turns and does its gear-boxy thing, but will only find out if it jumps out of gear or other problem once it runs.

Things like brake lines need to be run OVER paint and not be painted Over, so a lot of items will be added and worked for the 1st time once its installed over the painted body.

A lot to look forward to.
