Leroy Fastback
Started a new project and the look is coming together.
Started with this Then body off DIY style Then transplant onto Leroy The look is now starting to come together, maybe a little long All this was done alone and I now have a 8 seater

Re: Leroy Fastback
I APOLOGISE UP-FRONT FOR MY DIMNESS.......; BUT.........
ARE YOU INTENDING TO INCORPORATE/ATTACH THAT BEETLE BODY ONTO THE BACK OF THE DBL CAB? PERMANANTLY?
IF SO, TO WHAT END?
WHAT DO YOU INTEND DOING WITH THE LEFTOVERS? (I'D BE QUITE KEEN ON THE DROPSIDES AND THEIR ATTACHMENTS)
WHILE I'M AT IT.
I HOPE YOU AND THE GROWING FAMILY HAVE A WONDERFUL, SAFE FESTIVE SEASON RICH.

Re: Leroy Fastback
HI Mark,
Nope just a bit of festive humour sorry.
Just using Leroy as my dolly until I have done the chassis and then back onto the Beetle.
Quick Beetle build for under R10k, I just wanted a quick project at home.
Rather work on a volle than watch the telly
All the best to you and yours.
Ciao

Re: Leroy Fastback
Does anyone know if you can get 15 inch 4 stud 100 PCD steel VW rims?
This Beetle has front disc with 4 stud 100 PCD.
Currently fitted with 17 inch aluminium which are too wide and scrapping.
Thanks.

Re: Leroy Fastback
Nissan NP200 or Renault steelies would be the easiest to find. May have to open up the centre bore a little to fit the disc brake hubs
If it's too low, you're too old

Re: Leroy Fastback
Project update.
Ok what I thought would be a cheap resto in no longer. It just seems that everything you touch needs replacing so best do it right and spend the dosh.
So to date the following:-
=Nissan front rims fit perfectly to the front golf discs with a small spacer. Thanks Blitz but now I have to somehow fit vw hubcaps
=New front bearings & discs.
=New steering everything, tie rods etc.
=New shocks all round
=Skim rear drums, shoes, and seals done. Now those seal kits fought me big time with leaks. Yes new kak.
=New hand brake cables
=Refitted my rostyles and took off the horrible mags and spacers.
=Dropped the rear one notch
=New gearbox seal, throw out bearing and clutch kit.
=Refitted my old motor from Slak that he built for his baja years ago, thanks Slak.
=And the list goes on as I hope to marry the body up soon.
=Next to do is the sound proofing and body rubber.
=Then wiring and new interior.
=The exterior can stay old for now undecided.
Went for a drive and what a load of fun without the body yuslike Ciao

Such a cool picture!
My dad built a streetrod back in the 70's and has a similar picture, and then one with it complete. One of my favorite pictures of him.

Re: Leroy Fastback
you are going to tear up those axle boots. Move them to the correct position while its still easy to do so
