Badger VW Jeep

Post by Gids »

I am starting this new project and need any information I can get.
I purchased a 1972 Beetle that will be the doner vehicle for the Badger VW Jeep build. Also purchased the Badger fibreglass shell. I need to shorten the pan with 420 mm (according to my measurements) I am trying to get more information or plans for this build.

The company that used to build the fiberglass kits was called Fibre Tech and was based in South Africa. Any information that can assist me with this build will be appreciated.

Hi Gids. Unfortunately I can't give any advice on the build, but my Dad had a red one many moons ago...it was called a Veep. It had the shortened VW chassis with a single port 1600 stock engine in it. It had Beetle everything on the chassis, Beetle speedo and aftermarket bucket seats. It even had a tent that could zip closed with doors that could zip open on the sides.

What I could remember is that with the huge all terrain 15” Tyres on it, it was super underpowered. You couldn’t drive in 4th in town as the revs would be too low and top speed in 4th 110km/h lying bullet and if there is even an imaginary hill, back to 80. So I would guess the 1600 gearbox may not work the best unless you give it some extra power.

Need to see if you have space maybe a Bay window tank will fit.

Or build one to fit,

See above link to Veep instructions.

Hi Gideon

Just wanted to find out if you managed to get the information you were seeking? I am keen to build a "Veep" from the spare floorpan and 1300 box I have...let me know via PM please.

Thanks
Evan
