suicyde engine

Post by Tony Z »

Hey guys. Its about time I put some pics of the engine on the forum. Most of them were taken with the phone...

As some of you may remember, I had a not so pleasant incident while breaking in the cam.
It appears that the hole for the pulley was bored slightly off-centre from the main bearings. So during the cam break-in, the pulley seized against the case.
The engine is currently apart waiting for me to repair it and try again.

It did sound truely awesome when it started. I blipped the throttle a few times and it just screamed, letting off a growling howl that gave me goose bumps.... was awesome....

lots of pics to follow, so beware if you have slow connections

Thrust bearing

Beware to anyone who builds an engine... check to ensure that the oil hole in the case lines up with the oil hole in the bearing... I have heard of a few engine seizing because of this problem...

Deck height... too little (piston sticking out of barrel)

add shims - I had to cut some from shim stock to get my deck height correct, to 1mm

sorry boys, these pics are linked to my yahoo account and they have a traffic limit of about 5mb per hour. So stay in line, be patient and your turn will come... unless someone else can host them for me
