Interestingly the price is quoted in gns (guineas) and it was mailed from Australia (CarAdvice.com.au), so I looked it up:

Wiki - "Even after the coin ceased to circulate, the name guinea was long used to indicate the amount of 21 shillings (£1.05 in decimalised currency). The guinea had an aristocratic overtone; professional fees and payment for land, horses, art, bespoke tailoring, furniture and other luxury items were often quoted in guineas until a couple of years after decimalisation in 1971. It was similarly used in Australia until that country went to decimal currency in 1966."

More wiki - "Under the implementation conversion rate, £1 was set as the equivalent of $2. Thus, 10s became $1"

So 38gns X 21 s/gns = 798s = Aus$79.80. That wasn't so cheap for 1968!

It is of course a huge assumption that this advert is originally from Australia, because CarAdvice.com.au wasn't around in 1968 either...
