I would say that only the coloured photo is of 1939-1940 (although I suspect it depicts the KdF-wagen introduction in 1938), since all the others depict post war things, like the Type 2 (1950) and the Beetle has Bundespost on it's side, if it was during the war, it would have said Reichspost. BUT: nice pics anyhow. Thanks for posting them.

There was a kit where you could take your split bug and cut out the split and put in a more modern oval screen... hahaha!!

sum1 i know told me stories about how he owned a 58 in the late 70s/early 80s and did eveything possible to make it look like a newer model (fenders/t-bars/lights/DIY convertable top/etc)
imagine if he had just never touched it...

Those days cars were built to last..these days you can forget about keeping your car long enough for it to be a vintage...mainly because they will have fallen apart by then!
