Thanks Pine. That's exactly what I'm looking for. Now how do I buy it without bidding on the auction?

Unfortunately there is no other way than to register on BidorBuy and start bidding yourself.

Old 'sniper' trick is to set your alarm for a few minutes before the auction closes on 20 Dec at 15:30 and start bidding then, hoping that the previous bidders are not on line.

Thanks Pine. Just went through the registratioin process before remembering that my email has a problem. At least I have a few days to sort that out and register before the auction finishes!

Thanks Tony. I posted a pic of that first one earlier in this thread; it's perfect. I just need to work out how to get it to Joburg.

I got the slightly bigger size. I got this one from a guy in Pinetown; it's exactly what I had in mind and very heavy duty:

It took 8 guys to lift the pump onto the wagon, but now I can move it around single handed:

Haha, yes. Actually the engine's power is already put to good use: the pump capacity is 60 cubic metres an hour, or 1,000 litres a minute!

Once I've finished the restoration and I'm happy with the set-up, I intend to make it into a trailer so it can be put to use.
