Hey
I also ordered a parcel from Europe and as per tracking it says that it was in SA in September, so looks like a got a long wait! Also trying to get hold of the SAPO through the mediums with no luck. Gone are the days when things used to work in this country.

Did mail them on the address Blitz posted. Got this reply:

We have found no record for this item on our system. No SA nr and no arrival date.
Please be informed we do have a high volume of incoming mail causing a huge delay together with the operational challenges at JIMC. Possibly your item arrived already, however it might be due to the backlog that it was not scanned onto our system yet.

We sincerely apologize if your item is being delayed due to this problem.

So many people want jobs, the PO is backlogged to the point they have given up, they are run by the Government and yet nothing is done to hire extra people to handle this backlog.
All that they are achieving is that people will stop using them and take their money elsewhere and this will lead to less jobs and the cycle repeats....
Instead of creating the wealth locally, they rather want to target expats who live in different countries... - FWIW, those rules dont affect me, so its not me bitching about the new regs.

The Post Office van delivered my parcel at 17H30 this afternoon. The same seller sent two parcels on 18 August. First one got here 20 Sept. Second one only today.

What is strange is I checked every morning, even today, and the last update was on 19 August. After they delivered I checked again and the it shows from 20 Oct.

Wonder what happened from 19 Aug to 20 Oct? And then only 5 days to go through customs and to deliver?

you lucky, you got yours, They keep telling me that the parcel is not in SA and not scanned in, so they can not find it.

BUT... if you go to USPS track they say its accepted in Johannesburg, and sent on to destination.....

Not bad as it was sent on 3 June.......

TODAY MY MOTHER RECEIVED HER BIRTHDAY CARD FROM HER SISTER IN THE U.S.
NOT TOO BAD; ONLY A MONTH OVERDUE.
THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT THE CARD WAS STILL IN THE ENVELOPE.
THE BAD NEWS IS THAT THE ENVELOPE HAD BEEN NEATLY SLICED OPEN ON THE SHORT SIDE AND THE $60 GIFT REMOVED.

WELCOME TO AFRICA..... VIVA ANC. A BETTER LIFE FOR ALL!

Still some hope fore you getting it. Even yesterday morning mine was not tracked in the country, only after I received it I see they updated it from the 20th.
This was the response I got from them a while ago:

I normally use Fedex or DHL. This time round the seller used with DHL with the cheaper option with German post.

I do have an account with Fedex but sometimes it works out a lot more. Bought an 52 engine block three weeks ago in Austria but still trying to get it here for less than what Fedex quoted me. The block was 500 Euro and Fedex quoted me 1000 Euro to ship it.
The Austrian post is asking 200 Euro for priority and 105 Euro for normal post.
Only customs and Vat is included with Fedex but obviously not with the 200 Euro of the post.
A BIG difference.

Mailing cash is just a bad idea, no matter to which country.
