Anybody with Post Office connections?

Post by Eugene »

As per the topic. Have been informed that my international parcel arrived in JHB on 25 September....Still no parcel and their customer support number never gets answered. Have sent emails to customer.services@postoffice.co.za, complaints@postoffice.co.za, international.parcels@postoffice.co.za, without any luck :(

There is a massive backlog in JHB. I have no idea why. It's SAPO, after all.

I had an incoming parcel delayed there for well over a month.

socialmedia@postoffice.co.za

They take a day or two to respond but will always help.

Send as much info as possible and boldly highlight the tracking number in the email.

Go to the postoffice with all your tracking info. Get them to check their system to find out where it is. Its likely in the Cape Town Epping depot.
then go to Epping and tell them its urgent and ask if they can help.

Its only been in SA for 2 weeks, it wouldnt have made it anywhere yet. Usually dont expect it to clear the postoffice system in under 6 weeks. So if you want something, you need to pay for a courier to bring it in...

Then I am holding thumbs. I had a box with NOS carb bodies for 25HP engines and all other nos parts to built eight 26VFIS carbs, basically took all stock of what he had, so no more available.
My supplier sent it with two parcels on 19 Aug. The first one came two weeks ago but the other one missing. And like Eugene said, no answer. Holding for 10minutes just to get cut off.
Allways ask suppliers not to send with postage but DHL got this thing now that is not 100% a courrier service, more like postage. Even have to track it on SAPO site here.

DHL from Germany uses the post office for their cheaper services. From anywhere else in the world, they are a dedicated courier as far as I know.

You can download the SAPO tracking App, where you get to enter the tracking number, and get sent updates as the package gets processed.

Packages normally take three days to get from the States to JHB. Then it takes over a month to make it from JHB to CT. I normally track it online, and once at the Cape Mail hub, I go collect it. That saves a week, off them having to send it to your local post office.

I've been waiting for a DHL package from Germany for over two months now. Probably the cheaper service, that Mr Z is referring to. Guess it's the SAPO link that kills the efficiency.

If you need stuff in a hurry, don't use any service that relies on SAPO.

A lesson I have learnt, don't get small boxes sent, anything smaller than half a shoe box has the tendency to fall thru the cracks and disappear when using SAPO. Be patient, had a shipment from CB Performance sit at Kempton park customs for 6 weeks. 2 separate shipments from China 3 weeks apart, the one overtook the other?
