And I didn't do a thing to deserve a mention, except go back to sodding work!! But thanks anyway.

But I spend good VW hours under Gills bus doing reduction boxes... and I went to Timour Hall and unveiled the Ghia, hoohaa. And "Rumours" is running again like the little thoroughbred champ she is (all my one-year-long-woes turned out to be the Ignitor kit that failed). I'm missing the Notch, she's in storage and I haven't seen her for 8 months now. And the Mini-T is on a back burner. Oh, and I'm waiting to see if Bella, our Lab, is preggies.

I went through the posts to look for material to update the weeks that was.Appart from a couple of guys going to build some mean engines and a few others that is building some awesome cars, nothing realy news worthy realy happend.

The Thing is coming along nicely,1972 is looking to get his Bug on the road,TonyZ did start and drive his Bug,albeit out the garage,The Darkside is Forcing Vader to loose his cool...or maybe the aircon in his suit is on the fritz.Rabid Ant is also getting closer to the day the Speedster is going to run.

And then there is the Buggies.Dutch is looking for his second project.Dubster is already driving his Buggy in VR.Pine is getting closer and closer to HW2,bferreira is taking on a Kango project,11aingp is going to try and go faster with a turbo setup in his and Dirk is also strugling with his SWB Buggy.

There aren't a lot of bus projects going at the moment.Mainly lowlight,Slammed Split and ChrisG are bussy with their Busses.

And as for Type3's,Blitzkriegs is rumoured to be ready aroung 2020.Don't miss it,it is going to be one hell of a party!!Don't forget to bring your own Viagra, diapers and walikng sticks.Nurses will be supplied and Nic's ambulance will be on stand-by if any of the old timers needs to get to hospital quick.

Other news is that Bad ass Bob is getting married on Saturday......and will be getting the half of the stuff back that he lost in the divorce.God speed my friend.

What else is there to talk about then. All that is left is religion, politics and sex.Joost has left me no choice.Maybe it's the only way his "double" can score nowadys. And the way Carl Niehauss is carrying on,we better pray there will be enough money left to run the country. He gave appartheid the blame.Yes Carl, when the black dudes where in the other room, and you where alone in your room,i.e Appart, you had your fingers in the till.Or maybe you did it for the attention.Joost then can also use that excuse.Only difference is,it wasn't a till, and that wasn't his finger in it either, and he definitely didn't need the attention.

Like I said, not much to report back on.But at least the membership is growing. We went over 1200 members. :hangloose: .We are reaching people out there.Mybe soon we can have Bugfests like in the UK.Keep it going Eben.

I have to apoligise for not updating this thread for a couple of weeks. It has been hectic trying to keep the bussiness afloat in this economic climate. And with the family tragedy I kinda lost my sense of humour for a while. But I seem to have forgotten how many friends I have here. They gave me words of encouragement and were just themselves. Thanks guys, you know who you are.

I have seen a lot of that over the last couple of weeks.Watercool needs a special mention for everything he puts up with. But then again,he likes selling us toys.

Sooo, what happened the last couple of weeks on the site?Let's see.Shabir got a get out of jail free card after his doctors said he was going to die...Not!And our friends at the NPA is going to let Zuma off the hook...again!Well done Ray McCaly, looks like you achieved a miracle at last.

Enough of that....

HR got his new aircooled ride, and so did Dutch it seems.Vader got the new Darkside,or a part of it at least.Pine's HW2 project is comming along very nicely indeed with the help of Armand.Beetlefanatic will be cuising the streets soon in his Cabriolet by Bugger.Fig found a sweet 57 and a couple of lucky guys got a Split for free from Fig.Splitfan also outdailed some members for a Oval, and after pitching with cash in hand, walked away with the prize much to their dismay.TonyE has also joined the ranks of the BBB by getting a Beach Buggy project going.

Pine has become our local Spielberg and has been posting video clips on Youtube. He has proven that we can build cars, then remove the engine very quickley, fit an IMPI shroud, refit the engine at break neck(or should that be tennis elbow) speeds, and then to celebrate the fact that we are good at what we do,lay down some rubber with some well executed dough-nuts on tar or gravel, while a Zulu warrior is singing our praises.

Bad Ass Bob & Candy got married, and exactly one moth later,Ron & Gill also tied the knot.Congrats guys.I heard Barbwire danced on the tables.Eben then went to Madeira to have their honeymoon on their behalf.Bugspray won the first raffle in Feb.I heard rumous that Bugspray was in charge of the selecting the winner of the raffle...

Tomorrow is the 1st April,so anything that sounds a little suspicious, will most likely be a joke. So,beware, you have been warned. At least one thing cannot be taken away from us,and that is our sense of humour.Don't loose it.It's what keeps most of us sane. And the best way to share it is with friends.Keep on smiling. :P

P.S. I was truly shocked to learn that it realy was Joost in that sex video.

The week that was CT ... Well, not that these pictures would get much of a second glance in JHB, I thought it was a worthwhile cause for the capetonians:
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Now where was that bolt from again ...?
And do I need to weld that together?

Winter is setting in nicely and the evenings are getting colder. The days are shorter and where I'm used to it getting dark around eight,it's dark out by around half six already. It makes for working on our aircooleds that much more difficult. One slip of a wrench and it feels like your fingers got slammed between two fridges, and the swearwords travel that much further in the cold air.

Dutch Diver and Vader are going to have a hard time working on their new aquisitions in the comming weeks. That said, well done Dutchie, she is a real beaut!Vader is driving to Johannesburg in the next few days to have some beers with Bugger and John Hoffe, check out their toys, take in the bird life and,uhm...oh yes, collecting Tie Fighter.

Since the last time I updated this thread, the ANC has once again won the national elections, and in doing so,made Shappiro remove the shower head from JZ's head, and place it behind the chair he will not be using much in his office in parlaiment. The money market has improved slightly and our toys will be little cheaper from Watercool this time around.Porsche has aquired the majority share in VW,and now is set, according to the German industry, to kick Toyota out of their second spot on the Automaker Rankings, despite seeing a 30% drop in new car sales for the last year.Strange then to see Eben struggling to give money away for free....

Fuel prices came down, but seeing the oil price rising again I can see fuel costing us more in the near future if the rand doesn't hold steady or improve.Amy Whinehouse worse than ever,Brad wants to move out, swine flu fear has gripped the world,Idols has two winners for the first time ever,F1 is turning into the biggest circus and the best news of all,The Bulls is in the Super 14 semi finals.(Game begins at !5:00).

But I digress. In Aircooled world it is hectic at the moment.I can't keep up with all the projects, neither the cars being bought and sold.JMVV is building a SP clone called 2 Bucks,Theq's Herbie look alike is gathering momentum as is HotWheels2.Impi's Puma is a stunner and should be at a show near you soon,Muderick is making short work of his DC project, fig's new Bus is a little short on parts(check out his "wanted" thread),SambaOwner's son's Bus is looking good in green,Bugger's seatcover's Square is also in the pipeline as soon as he finishes the roof on his newly built workshop,Goblin's Beetle is looking stunning and the list goes on.

As mentioned before,Dutch now has Blue Bird at home,TonyE also has a new Bug that will undergo some work soon,Tom's Thing is almost done and Bugz bought a 58 Beetle that is set for a roof chop. But some guys also had some bad luck.Hitler's revenge got his Buggy nearly wrecked in an accident with BMW and Lieb's Coroner's Bus got knocked from behind by a careless 4x4 driver.Good luck with fixing those guys. Then again some guys had some good luck.Tristram found a new job with 4agedub.Nice one!

Get those heaters out,put on something warm, let the wife bring the warm coffee but keep up the good work on those cars even if the cement floor is cold.

Indeed Dark Lord,it’s been a while. So here is an update just for you.It is long one,so be prepared

Let’s start with you then, shall we? Vader went up to Jhb a couple of weeks ago after a long search for a watercooled VW. He returned home, not only with a Golf TDi,but also with the body that will become the Tie Fighter. A wild idea he envisioned one night while the gas mixture was just right. Vader also got a donor body that was parked the parking atentand,HR’s,home. The pit crew came together one Saturday in Vader’s absence and stripped it. See what happens when you don’t pitch when you supposed to. The guys get so angry, they take your car apart.

Vuyo in the meantime decided that it was time for the Notch project to find a new home and Karmakoma was just too happy to adopt the car. Good luck with that project. jmvv found a Square hidden under a carport for a couple of years and wanted to make it his own. Dusty went on it’s first road trip, albeit on the back of a trailor. Pine flew down to George to have some of his mom’s food, and collect his newly acquired LHD Squarie. After kissing his mom goodbye and packing the picnic basket that she so lovingly prepared,he drove the old girl back to Jhb.But that only after he got stuck in the sand on a beach. No turtle eggs was broken during the photo shoot. YvanneS also got hold of a Notch. It will soon be doing the trip up to Jhb as well.In what seemed to be a month of Type3’s finding new owners,VDudBulli bought two Squarries that he is busy rebuilding down in the Republic of St Francis. I do have to mention Blitzkrieg too. It’s out of the garage and have since had it’s wiring sorted. 2020 is not that far off anymore Blitzie.

Bad Ass Bob sold his Bus and its currently undergoing a major rebuild which I’m sure will be a stunning Bus. Didi found a Westy that looks like it got too close to the Darkside and is being rid of the cancer as we speak. Lots of work still lies ahead, but we saw what Didi did with his KG,and I’m sure it will be a gorgeous Bus when he is finished. Tom Bishop finished The Thing, and man, does it look stunning! He went all out to restore the 181 to it’s former glory and it paid off. Dutch Diver’s BB,from here on known as Rosie,is looking great ,but I’m not sure what Jurgen and Esme are up to. They are feeding Dutch breakfeast every Saturday. Maybe they think if they give him enough food,he will stay. Barry has made good progress with the Volks Rodster. It’s good to see that level of workmanship in SA. With the next meatl meet being held in October,Barry will make sure that more people will learn the tricks of the trade and we might see more work like this around in the near future.

And talking about great work,Lowlight’s Westy is also coming to it’s own. He has been working hard to get the Westy back to it’s former glory, and it will soon be one of the best looking examples around. Buggoff has and interesting project that a lot of us will keep and eye on.The Eagle kit car has already been assembled. Although it’s just a mock-up,and knowing the quality of work he does, this car will be a winner. Good luck with the build Buggoff.4agedub’shistoric racer Beetle did well in the race at The Vaal. He won both heats in his class and as on top of the world. Congratulations! You make us proud. Now,brush up on your public speaking, you will have to do it a lot! While we are on the subject of fast Beetles,Bugger bought back his old New Beetle. It saw a bit of abuse in the hands of the previous owner, but Bugger will soon sort out The Light Bearer and I know it will be one of the fastest if the Fly is anything to go by. 66looker made an appearance at Ferdi’s with the Type4 powered Bug. It has had some rave revues and I would love to see it at fig’s next year.

A lot of projects is happening at the moment and with the recession looking like it might be turning,I hope that more projects will be started. But spare a thought for the guys that has been hard hit by the bad economy. A couple of good friends have taken a serious knock and some will be looking for new jobs soon. Hang in there guys,it can only get better from here on. I have also been hard hit in the last 12 months, but with the help of great friends I made in the last almost 2 ½ years on this forum,I managed to keep my head above water. My lowlight SC has given me a lot of grief but I managed to get it going over this weekend. But on my 10 000th post,it’s kind of ironic that I ended up with a watercooled engine in my SC.I want to use this opportunity to thank the following people: Eben,TonyZ,Pine, fig,Dutch Diver,HR,Vader,Ladybug,Lowlight,Bad Ass Bob,Thumper and Family,Bugger,Beetlefanatic,fightercombi,Vincentcockcroft,vdudbulli,VWCrazy,Vuyo,Ron&Gill,Gill&Ron,ZeroAxe,Merlin,Armand,forcecooled,Dirk,Watercool,Sk8erbug,Pepsicola ChrisG,SambaOwner,SambaBus,Barbwire,Angel and last but not least, Blitzkrieg.

You guys mean a lot to me and I am proud to call you all my friends. Here is wishing you guys all the best in the future. Eben has a baby on the way,Thumper, good luck in your endeavours,Vader, may the force be with you,TonyZ,may the water always keep you afloat,Hitler’s Revenge, you are one of the best friends anyone can ask for,Pine, you are a true friend,Bugger, never change and keep up the good work,I know it’s tough. Vader, keep those seatcover pics comming and the gas mixture of the highest quality!

Now for the next 10 000 posts. :drunks: :hangloose:
