During a visit to a private car museum in George earlier this week, I spotted this old Ford with a very nice sun shield - was quite surprised to learn that it was actually made in South Africa?

Re: Stirling sun shield
I was promised one that came off a '49 chevy fleetline (allegedly a locally produced one) I havent seen it yet, waiting for the dude to come down from Limpopo next year, but I wanted to fit it to the beetle and Im guessing some shortening will be needed to fit.

Re: Stirling sun shield
I've got one on my Valiant. Also seen 2 split busses with Sterling sunvisors - very hard to find now.
If you can fit your head underneath and look carefully, you will see the sunvisor is stamped with the vehicle details for which it was made for

Sambas in South Africa are good for only 2 things: showing off and sunburn.

Re: Stirling sun shield
Yep Pine, they were manufactured in good old Durban, just like the Stirling roof racks. Same company.
Many people confuse them with the USA made Fulton visor, that Splits has on his bus. They are quite hard to find, and people are pleasantly surprised to find out that they were locally made. I have one for a beetle, that I have prepped and would be fitted to my 66 Beetle. Its real nice if you can find them with the chrome strip down the middle as well as the support arm (check pic), very often lost, that rests on the area just behind your window washer nozzle. I was lucky enough to last year, at the Timour Hall show, pick up some NOS fitting hardware, including the round Stirling end caps, Pine took pics of.
