Porsche Tapiro

Post by Thumper »

Maybe you have heard of this, but it is new to me. When Porsche was looking to replace the 912, and VW the Kharman Ghia, the result was the Porsche 914/6 -
Giorgetto Giugiaro – then working at Italdesign, decided to do his own design for Porsche, replacement for the 912. It became, The Tapiro. Which was a working car, used daily in the early 70's. It was destroyed during some civil unrest, petrol bombed or something. The remains was bought back by Italdesign.

Yes, I'd seen that in a Porsche book. I agree, it looks like a Lamborghini, not a Porsche.

I kinda like it. Reminds me a lot of the experimental Merc C111 from the late 60's to early 70's.

The Merc is very similar! And yes its got that 70\s angular lines for cars thing going on.

I like it. But then, i did have the Countach, Porsche 930, and De tomaso Pantera posters on my wall...

of course there were ugly ones designed ,

I bet the sun would fry the snot out of those guys in those big windowed prototypes. Besides which, parking must have been a royal PITA.
