Jolas,
Hey Guys, thought you and HR were going to visit - coffee is getting cold Sorry for the late reply took a while to find where we last chatted. My place is close to the Berg River Resort - Just call as I am in and out.
Well the transporter manual is on the forum thanks to Eben see if it is the same. We can compare and I can copy it to CD if you want. Give me a shout. I am not a Bus collector so don't have many bits Just a good condition speedo which has been set to zero which I must sell sometime. Anyway catch you later. Bushpig

Hi Bruce, sorry about last week, was'nt a good one ! I might be in Elands Bay on Monday so, perhaps Tuesday ? Hows that for you HR ?
Thanks for the offer of the wheels, I came right with HR. I'll bring the '55 transporter manual with me anyway - I must say the one you scanned in here on the forum is great - the manual I have is so old and delicate, and the garage is'nt the right place for it now, what with greasy fingers and so on ....
Cheers !
Paul

Re: 1956 Kombi - ex Ambulance
It's been a while since I added anything to this thread. Nothing has happened at all with the bus, it has been waiting patiently (where it will have to carry on waiting for a while).
I did take delivery of a few goodies whilst in George recently
centre brake light
reverse light
ambulance fans
bench seat
Collecting parts and restoring this bus is going to be a "challenging" affair. Just the above items cost an arm and leg, eish ! The bench seat is part of a set from a double cab which I had to purchase for a second time (long story) - There just are'nt any bench seats lying around it seems. The rear set is destined for VWrules double cab in East London.
Sincere thanks to Jacques (splitbusaholic) for trawling through the various other forums, classifieds, etc for me and securing/importing the other bits and bobs above, thanks dude
Some other trading has gone on over the last 2 years with Bushpig and others, and I have now have a nice speedo, door handles, etc, etc. Will post pics as I go along.
As far as the other "ambo stuff" is concerned - Ja, well, it looks like wishful thinking as far as the correct stretcher, and other equipment goes. Not that there is any rush, but I think I will be concentrating on the vehicle itself. All the little bits will just have to wait.
What I really do need however is ............
The fans cover plate
And the correct '55/57 tail lights - please if anyone has ANY leads on the above 2 items, I would be very interested ..........
Will keep you posted

Beware !!! completely striped parts visible.
The following pictures may be construed as pornographic and/or excessively stimulating to members with split bus ambulances.
Sorry the fannys are missing.
I have it on good authority that it will be arriving at Cape Town International Airport on the 7th of April 2012, on a 1Time flight, with a large beer guzzling UCT student who will shamelessly trade it for any amounts of booze.

Re: 1956 Kombi - ex Ambulance
Well, 6 years have passed since the old bird was dragged out from under the tree on that farm. Hells bells, 6 years, where the hell does the time go ???
And 2 weeks ago she was dragged out again into the sunlight and so begins the exciting job of bringing the old ambulance back to life

Is it going to Sean's place? And what are your plans for the inside.
Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.
