"FortNox" my '64 Deluxe beetle

Post by JVR K&C »

The Story of this bug started end of Nov last year....a friend notified me of her & that she was in urgent need of alot of attension....

Beginning of Dec a deal was struck & we trailered her back to JVR Kustoms & Classics from the tree she's been standing under for the last 2-3yrs.

She sat in my yard while I was busy rebuilding a friend's '62...... & after the holidays work began.... Body was taken of the pan, & everything was stripped & redone...... As I knew beforehand what I wanted to do with her, all parts was collected since her purchase, so when the build started, nothing was holding me up.2 weeks of very late hours, almost no sleep & blood , sweat & tears, the pan was done & evrything was replaced with brand new stuff, brakes, fuel lines, bushing etc etc etc.....

Now the body was rusted in a bad way, the drip rails were so bad I had to make new ones from scratch, rust were removed, new panels tig or mig welded in & body was prepped & painted by myself.... The body took 4weeks of the build time.
All n all the interior was still very good & in original condition, so it was kept as is & just given a good cleaning.
She sits on Continental 195/50/15's wrapping EMPI Raider wheels.
Full lock steering is achieved by an adjustable K/L beam with 60mm narrowed in total & Z-d shock towers with custom shocks back & front....rear stance comes from a set of custom double adjustable spring plates, lenghtend 25mm & notched to have the 1600sfas box with 1300 axles sitting just right & put the power down coming from the bigbore 1600 Mexico AS41 with full flow oil kit & external oil cooler.... To give it tht deap beat, the gasses escape through the custom exhaust system that used to be a set of buggy pipes.

No you might ask yourself....Its low, but how come there's no rear wheel camber???

Well, as I said, I knew exactly what I wanted to achieve....So while the body was still off, the drivetrain was lifted 10cms up....giving the rear wheels an almost 0 degree of camber....to accomadate the raised box & motor, the rear floor section was cut out & hinges fabricated so that the floor now can flip up when the rear seat is flipped forward.

Now all this took place at JVR K&C & was done in 6weeks ;)>

She drives like a dream & receives countless thumbs ups & many a mobile picture....More on her later.Thx for the pics in advance Riekert
