A great thread - this really makes me want to get back working on my beetle.

I also have the golf discs in front and Dave made me a set of 5x130pcd adapters to fit the wheels. The front wheels are 4.5j. They seem very close to the std drum setup.

Right update time.
Brake master cylinder fitted and sorted going to be fun bleeding her.
Nothing much has progressed gearbox is in but found that the right hand side torsion spring
had dropped off the holding plate.
opened her up bushes are finished no stock available so waiting for goldwagen to source 4 x new bushes.
Putting newseals etc into rear drive not sure on how the aluminum seals will hold up from volkspares
they a bitch to put in.
And last but not least a pic of a 36 rear flogging spanner that has served 3 generations.
Cant beat the joy and pleasure of doing something you did 28 years ago specially for someone so special
as your child.

Looking good. I cant remember the name of that grease they spray on the inside of the doors to stop the rust but would that be what you are going to use.

Nope tectyl is old school. Now we just use a rust inhibitor called rust stop
Works well
