Beautiful! Does it have EFI or carbs? These cars are SO underrated...

Very Nice! I travelled next to this 412 along Bosmansdam road this past week. Looked very smart 'in the flesh'.

Nicely done. 8)

Thks guys, and it goes soooo nicely.
New tyres, original size, 165 x 15, much nicer ride than the 185s on there before.
30 kg bag of sand in the bonnet, helps keep the nose down.
Yes, it is EFI, starts like no other VW aircooled motor I have ever owned, first time, everytime!

Had several problems with fuel leaking from the "high pressure" (actually low for EFI) system, but eventually replaced all the piping, and had to use hose-clamps onto the injectors , cos' I couldn't get replacement crimped fittings.

Hose clamps work very well, no more problems.

I did that hose clamp modification myself on my white 412LE - had no problem!
One just need to be careful not to damage the electric terminals (and there are a lot of them), when removing the engine. If one of the sensors or the altitude regulators don't work, the whole system fails. Contrary to popular belief, the ECU box (fitted inside the body panel, below the right centre windscreen, and about the size of a 500g Omo box), hardly ever fails, it is the connections that give problems. The little plastic screw on top of the ECU is used to adjust the fuel mixture.

I think I might still have a spare high pressure pump for you somewhere, will have a look then you can have it

He is looking for a 944, but budget means it will probably be a 924.
Basically his budget is the Splitty for sale, so whatever he gets for the panelvan will go into the Porsche.
If anybody has a nice Porsche and wants to swop, please give me a yell.

We have seen a couple in the 35K to 45k range, in not bad condition at all.

Alternativey will consider a swop, Porsche for my XJ6 Executive.
