Hi Haans

This really isn't necessary on a stock motor. I cant comment on the Ghia setup as I only know busses, but I've never ever overheated a standard aircooled motor, and this is in a bus where the engine labours much more than in a Ghia. If everything is the way it should be, you can drive it hard all day long with no issues. I have a oil temp gauge in 2 busses and its a waste. You don't need any gauges.

This last trip to the George show I was using a bus with a single port motor and old style steel oil cooler that supposedly blocks off cylinders. We drove in 40 degree weather and I was being silly the whole way overtaking other busses, accelerating, decelerating and climbing passes and not even then does the motor get hot.

Oh wait, I forgot, I did once overheat a motor, twice actually, but it was a modified 1700 type 1, then a 1835 which also did it again. Never ever again will I get burnt with modified crap. Standard motors cant overheat.
